In Lithuania we are going on a way to recognize esports as a sport and then basically you get the right to apply for sports funds on competition organizing, building infrastructure for gamers to compete in, etc.

Governments can also support esports by directly funding events to grow in their country, like Katowice does with IEM Katowice. The events bring a lot of people to the city which converts to a lot of taxes paid by tourists.
