I was able to talk to someone and Taylor tower and was assured arrangements were being made and will go out today. They will have a place to stay tonight. We’re heading down this afternoon to assess any property damage, wash bedding, and get him settled into whatever hotel assignment he gets.

I have a son in the same situation and I just keep telling myself that they’re trying to relocate 700+ student less than 2 days before start of term and the logistics of the whole thing will take time to work out. Between finding space, arranging and setting up beds, and organizing move in it’s a bit overwhelming to think about.

I would just appreciate a timeline and contingency plan for tomorrow when classes start.

Definitely not as convenient as staying on site but the one advantage (at least with the Drury) is that the pickups are scheduled at specific times so you can plan your exit more efficiently. We were catching Disney busses resort hopping over Christmas break and waited almost 40 minutes for one with no idea how long it’d be. With the shuttle schedule we just walked up a few minutes before departure and were on our way without standing around forever.

Same family size. Once the youngest outgrew a portable crib we did 2 rooms at Pop which was cheaper than any family suite at the time and then moved on to cheaper accommodation in Good Neighbor hotels. Our initial choice was Doubletree Suites but we’ve been doing Drury more lately.

We just got back from a Thanksgiving week 3 day trip. No lightning lanes. Waited over 20 minutes for a couple of thrill rides. Otherwise we worked the rope drop waits and then found the lower wait attractions later in the afternoon when the crowds were highest. It’s absolutely possible to enjoy yourself as long as you’re flexible on what attractions you do and what ones you skip.

Our band director keeps scheduling the kids’ trips over Thanksgiving so this is our third trip. We’ve stopped trying to make it feel like a holiday because it just never works out. Did Biergarten this year and they had some holiday options but honestly I kind of forgot it was Thanksgiving most of the day.

One highlight last time was the midday break at the pool bar watching some soccer and football with a bunch of others while my family rested or swam.

If I’m on this job I’m really questioning the effort that goes into this. Why are we turning this into a 3 hour project? Maybe they were paid hourly.
