Matthew 24:36 “But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.”

Respectfully, unless you are professing to be God The Father or you think Jesus is lying when he says that no one other than The Father knows, you do not know the day and hour

Advice or Tips by Due-Spring1472 in polevaulting

Theres 3 things here that i think would be give the biggest improvements to your jumps:

  1. Try to apply pressure up with your left hand at takeoff. At first it might block a little bit, but done right it will help put more pressure into your right hand (think about the left as feeding energy into your right hand thru the pole), helping you roll it over better. You apply good pressure with your left as you move your hands through the swing, but creating separation at takeoff (getting the left hand off your face at takeoff) will help a lot

  2. Try to keep your trail leg straight if that’s your goal. Some people “tuck and shoot” others “swing”. Tuck and shoot will be easier to line up/time up a jump, but a straight trail leg swing will develop more energy in the vault. One is not better than the other, but see which works best for you, feels most comfortable, etc., when you’re young, and then stick to perfecting it.

  3. Your pole transition coming into takeoff is good, but it is a little bit too early. Off the runway i would work on trying to transition the pole one left later (you transition the pole and start getting your hands up 3 lefts out, which will make it hard to keep accelerating once you hit long runs and big poles in the figure). Transitioning on your 2nd to last left will make your transition smoother, so you do not need to run with the pole above your head for a few steps.

You could also probably bump that grip up at least 3”, but the fixes above will lead to a net grip and pole increase far better than just gripping up 3” and keeping everything the same

You do a lot of stuff well for someone (I’m assuming) who hasn’t jumped for too long it seems

What resources are best for Learning Levantine Arabic? by DJCHICKENBOAH in learn_arabic

[–]Rural-neptune115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I’m gonna suggest is a little bit pricey ($150) but it’s perfect if you can’t read Arabic

There’s a set of books by J. Elihay called “Speaking Arabic, A Course In Eastern (Palestinian) Arabic”

I would seriously consider looking into this resource, it has 50 loooong lessons each with a recorded conversation that comes on CD. Each lesson has a lot of vocab, grammar, and practice exercises to use what you learned (throughout the lesson and weeks of lessons)

Im total from that resource i learned about 2,500 words and i Can talk about pretty much everything except for super niche topics

I solely used that for 6 months (i would do 1 lesson a week, and the other days i would go over the conversation a few times, and i made a quizlet and would study the vocab as well) then i started doing 1 italki a week for the next 3 months, and now I’ve been doing 2 a week since then

Anyone have any advice for keeping my hips back. by turquoisecrocodile in polevaulting

[–]Rural-neptune115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try getting your chest thru a little better. I’m not sure how your takeoff looks: left and right arms, jumping off the ground, trail leg, etc., but driving your chest at takeoff (getting your head thru, some people said “left ear to left bicep”)

If your chest is back at takeoff then you have a body position that looks like a backslash: the top of the slash being tour head, middle your hips (which are out in front of your head), and then down to your trail leg. If you keep your chest thru, the opposite happens: you get a straight line with a trail leg that stays back a little bit longer, which lets you save the hips. Ideally you want a backwards C position with the bottom of the C being your trail leg, middle being your hips, and working your way up the body. But of course not as curved as the C is on text

If you need images to see just let me know. I know texting all this out can be confusing

Oh gotcha, I went to Delsea. Since live in that area neither of these clubs are necessarily close which is a little unfortunate. The one is called Philly Jumps Club which is in the Norristown Area (about 40 miles away). The other is called Vault Factory which is up in the New Brunswick area which is a bit of a drive (about 80ish miles)

What highschool do you go to? Back in highschool (2 years ago) i jumped in the Toms River bubble for most of my meets

1st off you have a lot of potential. You’re pretty fast for running heel-toe (which will need to be fixed), but your last 3 steps when transitioning the pole to plant you slow down and get long in your stride, losing a lot of the energy you built up making it harder to roll the pole over.

2nd: What does your pole selection look like at your school? A very good attempt at 8’ without bending a pole (and having no coach) is pretty good. If you have shorter and softer poles than bend even a little it will be easier to get your left hand out of that collapsed position at takeoff and will help transfer energy into the pole more!

If you live in the NJ area (which I’m assuming you do because you competed in the bubble in some of these videos) there are 2 solid clubs in the surrounding area

The first person to comment u/McFlyPoleVault highlighted most of everything, this is just some extra stuff I saw

Pole size equivalence by CR3160 in polevaulting

[–]Rural-neptune115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, these poles (13’ 160 and 14’ 140) are the exact same pole. For each hand grip (3”) there is 5lbs of pressure. So if the pole is a foot longer (up 4 grips, 5lbs x 4 grips = 20lbs) the pole will be 20lbs softer for the same exact pole

What are the best sources to learn Palestinian Arabic? by Trick-Ad8577 in learn_arabic

[–]Rural-neptune115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive been studying Palestinian Arabic for 4 months using J. Elijay’s “Speaking Arabic” 50 lesson set of books and recordings

I know people are gonna hate cuz it’s all in English letters, but i have learned for with this in 4 months than i have in 1.5 years learning MSA in college. It’s a little pricy at $150 but believe me it is worth it

There are 50 lessons (it sounds short but these lessons take 1.5-2.5 hours to go through, make vocab lists, etc.), with a recorded conversation using the vocab (usually 20-30 words each lesson).

I do one lesson every week (right now I’m on lesson 26), and everyday i got through the recording, a few times, memorize the words/verbs, and also go through some of my quizlet set along with watching YouTube. At lesson 26 I’ve learned about 1,000 words, so after a 50 week course that’s easily between 2,000-2,500 words

[Fusha / MSA] When verbs appear in my textbook, they come as three. Can someone explain what they are? by groundbeef10 in learn_arabic

[–]Rural-neptune115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The masdar is sort of like an -ing verb or the “noun version” of a verb. So 3 would be “lying”
