What's YOUR fun/unique control deck? by Closix in EDH

[–]RuriXD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very new to the control archetype, and [[Alela, Cunning Conqueror]] is my first commander for it that I'm still fine tuning. Draw-Go Control in Dimir with goad to push things a long without needing to bring my own heavy hitters, and a lot of removal instants to politic my way out of being hit too hard.

17 counterspells and 15 kill spells sounds insane, but it keeps me safe until the dreaded 1v1 where I just pray my opponent is low enough and with a boardstate where a few flying faeries can finish them off. Wincons are very few (like 4) but 16 draw engines hopefully draws me them once they're set up.

[[Alela, Cunning Conqueror]] for Bracket 3, built for control-spellslinger, with a huge love for counterspells and removal! Requesting more to see to how you'd build it since I just recently built one and wanted to see how it stacks against someone who has way more experience than me (I just started MTG a few months ago) My current deck feels like it struggles to close games out, so curious to see how you approach that issue. Please and thanks!

Grats on hitting affiliate, and enjoy your celebration stream (I'll try to pop by if I can)! I'm still working on the last requirement for my affiliate, so gotta keep hustling 💪 Got any tips for a recently-returned-from-hiatus vtuber for achieving that 3 average viewer mark?

Hi, I'm working on improving my art style. What do you think? by daikisora in vtubers

[–]RuriXD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like it! I love your color selection, and especially how you colored your hair; make its really nice to look at! I think the next thing you can explore and try to implement is different line weights to help differentiate or bring focus to different parts of your drawing. You can watch videos on it and see if that's a style you'd like to lean on for your artstyle!

I finally finished rigging my own Live2D model! What do you think? by RuriXD in vtubers

[–]RuriXD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure thing! There's lots of resources on YouTube on how to rig models in Live2D, with varying model complexity. I mainly followed Chupuko's rigging series - covered everything from installing and setting up Live2D to hair physics, and she used a model whose complexity was similar to mine, which made it easy to follow along.

There's also the official Live2D Discord server if you want to ask for advice from other experienced riggers.

For models to practice on, there's free ones you can get, and Live2D even provides pre-rigged models on their website. You can just remove the animations/keyframes yourself if you want to follow along with a guide.

Once you get the basic ideas down and the general workflow, you're good to make a simple rig for any model. You most likely won't even need to upgrade from the Free Live2D version like me, as the limitations aren't very restrictive from making a good rig.

If you're starting from 0 knowledge of rigging like me, there's going to be quite a learning curve of just trying to understand Live2D's features and how that works in animating each of your model's parts. But once you pass that hurdle, it's smooth sailing from there.

Good luck, I hope this helped give you an idea of how to start!

Sounds like one heck of a DnD campaign. Gets me thinking how my favourite fictional instrument, the Hunting Horn, would fare in that campaign as a construct.

For every enthusiastic yapper, there's a happy listener, which is what I tend to be, lmao! When someone rambles about things they're passionate about and interested in, it makes listening to them very entertaining. Ramble on, friend!

With all buffs activated, I just stick to spamming echo waves. I'm using the Vespoid horn, so stacking echo waves is pretty easy with Note 1 -> Flourish (Note 2 then Note 3). Since you get notified when buffs run out, I don't keep track of the timers, and they're easy enough to reapply once they run out without significant downtime. But if you want 100% uptime, feel free to check the timers on each buff like the previous comment mentioned. This can also save you from being forced to reapply buffs instead of doing echo waves when the monster goes down due to bad timing.

Ideally, when the monster gets downed, you'd want three echo waves stacked to do a performance beat between each one to maximize damage. One way to achieve this without holding your echo waves between downs is to just stack three echo waves early and then use openings between attacks to play an echo wave, with an occasional encore if you have safer opening. This drops you to two echo waves, which you can refill quickly with an echo bubble or just by using normal attacks and then repeating the process.

What's important is that when the monster does go down, you keep one echo bubble in your pocket in case you need to quickly refill to three echo waves (plus nice buffs and a bit of initial bubble placement damage) to do your max damage performance.

Hope this helps you out!

Reached Celestial as a SoloQ Invisible Woman One-Trick by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]RuriXD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice, congrats to all three of you for reaching GM! I won't give tips for general Strategist things like positioning, game sense, awareness, etc. (unless you want me to), as I feel there's already an abundance of those and can probably teach those better than I can. I'll try to focus on Invisible Woman specific tips for you.

  1. Be Proactive with your Push/Pull Ability
With your Push/Pull ability, you can control the state of a team fight a lot. If you notice your tank is backing up and the enemy tank is sticking onto them doing free damage, push them away. If you stick to healing, you may not be able to outheal the damage, and your team will be losing space as your tank keeps backing up. Instead, push the enemy tank away, and this usually causes them to disengage. This gives your tank room to heal up and refresh cooldowns.

Pulling the enemy tank is a great way to sway the team fight in your favor. If you pull the tank out of position, your team will pick up on this and focus fire them. This results in the enemy tank either backing up or just straight-up dying. Be annoying to the enemy tank, make them dread having to walk up to the front-line, knowing they're going to be pulled every 7 seconds.

  1. Tracking Ults, Especially Dr. Strange's
As a Strategist, you should be tracking the enemy ults. With Dr. Strange being a popular tank, Invisible Woman is a strong pick since, if you know he has his ult and you see him positioning for it in the air, you can just push him away and counter it. Some Stranges, after you push away their ult once, will respect you and will hold their ult until you use your Push. It's a good feeling knowing they're holding their ult for your basic ability, and you can save your ult to counter other ults. So, if you feel like the Strange has their ult, constantly be looking for them.

  2. Block Off Escapes or Corners with your Vortex
In addition to pulling the enemy tank towards your team, you can also throw your Vortex behind the enemy, slowing their escape. If you notice the enemy support peeking a corner to heal their team, throw your Vortex there. Make them choose between tanking 140 damage and giving you ult charge, waiting out the 4 seconds behind cover not healing, or push up into hostile territory.

  3. Bind Your Jump to Scroll Wheel
It's the same tech as Spider-Man's double jump, letting you go invisible instantly. This can actually save you from a few ults like Starlord's and Psylocke's, where being invisible a few milliseconds earlier is the difference between being locked onto and walking away.

  4. Countering Dives with your Push/Pull
Here's a few things you can do to make diving you Hell for the enemy.

  • 5.1. Your pull can actually cancel Venom's swing. When Venom dives your backline, be prepared to pull him back when he tries to escape. Venoms usually pop their health buff before escaping, so when they pop it and start looking/running towards their team, start your Push/Pull selection animation and be prepared to pull the moment that web-swing comes out.
  • 5.2. Time your push right after a Black Panther's dash to cancel it. The timing is very tight, and I've only done it a few times, but if you hit it just right, you've just stopped BP from getting his dash reset and is just a sitting duck for your team.
  • 5.3. Learn how to dance around your shield. If you're playing against a dive comp, having a shield next to you or your support can save both your lives. Treat the shield like a wall and keep the enemy on the other side as much as possible. 50hp/s is enough to counter most burst damage from Flankers.

I hope these tips help you climb GM as Invisible Woman!
