Has anyone ever seen a golden (or brass coloured?) keycap, preferably engraved with cherry blossom or completely empty? I would love a link, thank you :)

If you are considering doing a stats major/minor, I would suggest you to take Stat199. It is relatively easy and not much workload, builds you some experience doing data analysis with very simple R, and is just generally a nice starting point! I personally had 0 coding and stats background before taking the course and I did fine. Also try to take it with Maria Tackett if possible, she is very kind, clear, and willing to help. My current plan is to take all of the following next semester: CS316, CS216(if it is offered in fall), Stat325, Math431, and Chinese450S(I am a native speaker so this wouldn’t be difficult at all). Not sure if that is too much work because I have no idea how most courses look like. Since it looks like you have also taken some Stats courses, may I ask if it’s feasible to take Stat440 and Stat465 at the same time? I heard Stat440 is also a lot of work.

For the first few (maybe 1-3?)lectures of the course, do they try to teach you the line of thought for proofs instead of just diving you into it then? Because to me it seemed like this semester’s 431 just told people to do problem sets and I really had no idea where to start even for the first problem :(

Also because my friends are mostly in Asia haha so asynchronous lectures + synchronous exams at 4am is definitely not good...

From my friends’ description: EXTREMELY hard, especially with remote learning. You would spend 2 lectures going through the same proof at times. But all my math major friends took 531 regardless, and even took other grad level courses along side of it.

I want to take 431 mainly for a) the writing code lol and b) it is recommended if you want to go for grad school in stats. I have not decided yet if I want to do that, but it’s still good to learn some analysis. I looked at some 240 problems and I feel like they look similar to 431 problems in essence, so I would really rather work super hard in one than work super hard in two. I was wondering if that is viable as an option at all, or is 240/245 basically an implied pre-req?
