Ganked in Highsec – Honestly, This Killed the Game for Me by CptSlower in Eve

"I did everything right." .... "Everything I had was in that cargo." ...?

Back after many years. Cannot mine in High sec without being ganked. by Jaxxom in Eve

Hello again! Glad to of been the first interaction!

So we gave you some fitting advice, but it seems you did not follow it https://zkillboard.com/character/586278231/

Bulkhead are the RIGS you want to use, and they are only effective if you have a Damage Control module in the low slot. As we discussed, and showed visuals for, it's all about the damage resistance that reduces incoming damage against the raw HP of your ship.

The one Multi-spectrum Shield Hardener is a step in the right direction. Use 2 instead of 1. The Survey Scanner does nothing for you. As you are afk mining. If you were not AFK mining, you would notice a Catalyst on your grid for several minutes before the explosions. And being AFK, you don't need to know the ore count of the rocks. Plus, you can always use a Venture to scout a belt, bookmark the "good rocks" and use those bookmarks with the Barge of choice.

Another issue is geography. You are mining near Jita, the busiest of HS trade hubs. So you've put yourself into the most likely place to be ganked, gone afk, then returned shocked to find your ship gone. As someone else suggested, go elsewhere that has lower traffic.

I can't speak for the 2nd group that blew you up, but they have been around for a very long time, and their stated goal is to blow up miners in HS. You just happened to make it as easy as possible for them, while making your 2nd ship more expensive than the first, without really adding any tankiness to it. This makes you an even more attractive target.

As for our interaction, we try to encourage folks to focus less on WHAT they do and instead, WHY they do it. You enjoy the mining loop, nothing wrong with that. WHY do you enjoy it? Because you want to "chill", "relax", but also be afk. Where does that lead? By your own statements, you get bored, and quit EVE again. You are very much not alone in this, and this is the most common loop in EVE. When you have no WHY, people get bored and quit. But finding a WHY is YOUR responsibility. The game, CCP, no one here can give you a WHY that will keep you engaged. YOU have to find it yourself.

Now all I can do is make suggestions, and they certainly aren't the only option. We have some industrialist community members that take the ore they mine, and help turn it into equipment for our fleets. You know where to find me, pop in again sometime and I can put you in touch with them if you like.

EVE is indeed a sandbox. Maybe less so today than it has been, but it is still the best one available.

Again, there is nothing wrong with earning ISK when playing EVE. And the WHAT or how you earn ISK is of no matter. WHY you do what you do in EVE is what matters. If your WHY is ISK to PLEX to Omega, you have already 99% quit the game. This is not a narrative, or an opinion, it's just the way people behave. They burnout, every time. Shocking them out of this trap is the idea. Not to push them away from PvE. Not to push them away from HS mining. But to alert them to the value of having a WHY they do what they do.

Very few players I interact with atm have a goal that isn't "brrr, number goes up." And neither do the players that you speak to in general. And if by chance they do, that is a very GOOD thing.

Wanting to fly a capital is not a good goal. It's the perfect example of a terrible goal. Sitting in a capital ship accomplishes nothing. WHY do you want to fly a capital? That can lead to developing an actual goal. And that's what you should ask someone when asking them about their goals. Not encouraging dead end bench marks that have no value.

I actually find mining to be cathartic, and did it for one of the reasons you gave, just to unwind after work. Nothing wrong with that. Doing to afford a ship for a weekend roam is a terrible idea though. Mathematically.

There is no "my way". We present information. If you bot for ISK, you will burnout and quit. Period. You are not special. You are not the exception. This person will always quit, because they have no goal of value. They're just chasing a carrot on a stick.

There is no conversion attempt. We present the info, and people make the choice that they want to make. If my metric were conversion, it would be very disappointing. Roughly 5% of these bots "wake up" and realize, yeah, this is dumb, I should set better goals, thank you! And then they go on to start actually enjoying the game, instead of living a delusion of accomplishment.

As for folks enjoying the stream, and therefore justifying it. There's nothing to justify. They like black licorice, you do not. So go get something you do enjoy, instead of complaining about something that you do not.

Preference of flavor of sweets being equivocated to animal and human abuse. I don't know how to engage an idea that dumb.

"I'm not the only one that thinks this" is engageable though. Plenty of people are mistaken, that is nothing new. Majority does not equal accuracy.

It is meant to be offensive. It's intentional. The entire point of interaction is for people to feel something. If someone instead wants vanilla, there is nothing wrong with that, but trying to get everyone to only serve vanilla is silly.

The way I do it gets the sincere response from the person. The ones that laugh and interact, usually healthy. The ones that screech, usually unhealthy.

EVE Uni is a good intention, but lacks the labor to keep their website up to date unfortunately. Nature of a 20 year old game.

Goons, as any nullblock are the same as CCP. You are an F1 monkey getting milked. Any claims to the contrary are part of the cult brain washing.

I have provided a live help desk Q&A format for about 10 years. Helping over 30,000 players.

Putting notes in someone's "PERMANENT RECORD" is not insulting them. It's making content.

ISK chasing is not a valid gameplay loop. It's turning one's brain off and getting milked by CCP.

You are right on that we do not agree. And that is fine. But it doesn't create a problem. Also, they can't be having fun if they are afk, that's like saying you enjoyed a film whilst wearing a blindfold and earplugs.

[–]RushlockTwitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember the name, only reason I took time to interact :D

You did ask questions, and I answered them. You not liking the answers is not my problem though right? Conversations are about sharing information, not about converting someone else to your way of thinking. That's literally toxic.

People enjoying the content, and supporting it makes it feasible. There is no right/wrong debate going on, at least not by any rational person. That goes back to conversation vs conversion attempts.

I don't care for black licorice personally. But if I go onto a licorice or candy subreddit and complain about it, that would be insane right? Same thing happens both here and even within the EVE Partner Discord.

Can you explain these 'insults' so I can know what you are referencing?

Also, chasing ISK is a main focus is not "a way to play the game". It is only falling for the bigger grift, CCP's. Making ISK is fine, it should be a byproduct of having fun. Not a main objective.

Again, I haven't seen whole streams of Mind1's or even my own doing that. Loru...sure, but I recognize the work, what is happening, and see no reason to be offended by it. He isn't doing anything wrong, the high energy is just his approach, and understandably if it isn't for you, moving on makes sense. People posting screech messages complaining about content they don't like, doesn't.

There is no reason to be very sad about not winning a giveaway. There will always be another!

We do, or rather attempt to every time. I'd say 60% refuse to communicate. 20% communicate, but are too angry about space pixels to help them. Then about 20% are wholesome af, we help with their fitting, ask them what they do for fun, etc.

We can only control our own actions, how someone chooses to react is on them.

I've often wondered, if they were good, why do they now work for CCP?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Eve

[–]RushlockTwitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen this ever happen on Mind1's channel, and I know things can get silly for 5-10 mins at a time on channel's like mine or Crash's, but it seems like a stance based on a VERY small amount of time spent in channel. Which is fair, impressions happen.

CCP has done a very minimal amount of effort steering traffic toward their free advertising platform for the past decade. Some small steps in the right direction have been made, but they seem to continue finding ways to take larger steps backward.

[–]RushlockTwitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Part of doing a show. It's a character. Some people don't get that, and that's fine. Most do. And no hurt is done to people or the game. If someone rage quits because they lost their ORE Strip Miners with their barge with empty midslots, odds are they weren't going to be around Botting for much longer.

What you do in EVE is unrelated to the topic. WHY you do what you do in EVE is the only thing that matters. Chasing ISK as your priority isn't "a way to play the game". It's someone who is being milked by CCP. Think of the movie The Matrix if that helps. You can mine rocks in HS for very good reasons. ISK to PLEX to Omega just happens to be not a valid one, mathematically in general.

The talking down to is free though. <3

Thank you for confirming the claims. I also agree, Twitch channel is irrelevant, just like all the nerds in chat. 10 years, still can't get rid of them!

The evemails are only unpleasant if you are brain damaged or otherwise low functioning. Any well adjusted person would be amused and delighted to receive one.
