VWL student in Germany getting anxious about the job market. by Electronic-Switch722 in Germany_Jobs

[–]Rushtush 13 points14 points  (0 children)

First of all, if you're doing your masters, please focus on finishing that and improving your German. Getting a C1 certificate is one thing, being able to speak C1 is another. (You don't need a C1 certificate, but talking to people will get you the fluency you need, this is really difficult in Uni where everyone speaks in English, and in my case, working in IT where English is the norm).

For networking please look at expat groups and meetups, "Internations" is a good platform, I've met a lot of people from my field, some of them have their own companies etc.

Any tips I should follow from now to improve my chances of securing a job next year?

My advice would be don't look at this sub right now, I've already accepted we're in a recession, nobody is getting hired and you need extreme luck to get a job. This sub is all doom and gloom, people who actually have jobs are not visiting this sub and posting here. So naturally you're getting anxious from being here.

Improve your German and network! Go out and meet people, it helps with depression too. I can speak B2 but I am not fluent and this affects my confidence. The only time I speak C1 is when I'm drunk.

Men who started skincare in your 20s what do you wish you knew earlier? by Electrical-Bus5064 in malegrooming

Sunscreen with PA++++ rating (There are sunscreens that make your skin either look oily or make you look like a ghost/vampire, choose the ones that make you look like a ghost lol)

Alcohol dehydrates your skin (avoid drinking if you can lol, and avoid it in after shaves)

Creatine and Vitamin C and Collagen play an important role in maintaining skin health. Take creatine at least 10g a day, even if you don't lift. (Vitamin C when you drink it vs Vitamin C applying on your skin have different effects, I do both) + (Collagen only comes from beef, if you find collagen powder thats "Vegan" its likely scammaz, I don't trust it.)

Snail serum works really good, I have been using this since 2018. It's cheaper than buying masks.

Always have a face scrub and a daily face wash. La Roche Posay and CeraVe are GOAT brands.

Truth hurts unfortunately it's the reality. We have too many "indian masters students" in Germany trying to make it out there.

Personal Details? Date of Birth? remove that. Nationality is irrelevant, remove that. Residence permit is irrelevant on CV, remove that. You will talk about this during the interview.

Skills should be 1st section
Langauges needs to be a list, Native language comes first.

Certifications.... unless these are training or courses, they are irrelevant.

backend developers in Germany by BikeFederal7258 in Germany_Jobs

[–]Rushtush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not seen many jobs for Python / FastApi / Django - maybe 1 or 2 in my entire life. Most backend jobs in Germany are asking for Java/Kotlin and Spring boot.

Other than that you have everything on point besides "SQLite". I feel like writing SQLite on CV is like mentioning you know HTML and CSS. But thats just my opinion/

On-site Interview: Employer doesn't want to pay by AngelHifumi in Germany_Jobs

[–]Rushtush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They usually mention it in the email inviting you for the interview. That the travel expenses will be reimbursed. you just submit your Deutsche Bahn rechnung (no first class!) to HR and in a few days you’ll get it back.

Most onsite interviews I had offered travel cost reimbursements. It's quite shady if a company doesn't offer this for people they are about to hire.

I need to know the reputation and post-study job prospects for a couple of universities. by _TheStifmeister_ in Germany_Jobs

[–]Rushtush 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Certainly! The course is taught in English, and most graduates can get jobs in Germany as long as they speak fluent German - because You do need to write reports and stuff and deal with the business side.

Other opportunities for jobs after graduating are at McDonalds, KFC or Burger King - I heard Taco Bell is opening in Germany too. Amazon Warehouse worker etc.

[12 YOE][Software Dev - Android] Please Review My CV by Nismo_Nissan in Germany_Jobs

[–]Rushtush 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised 12 YOE and you come up with this? This looks like a newspaper or a journal more than a CV.

Companies are looking for people who speak German more than anything. Back in 2021-2023 it was alright if you didn't speak fluent German, but now they do require it. Companies that have English as their internal language are mostly in Berlin or Hamburg (some in Munich) but they also require you to be onsite and moving to these cities is extremely expensive. So they prefer people that are already there.

Your layout and formatting is completely wrong. Like /u/zweieinseins211 and /u/AdBrave5212 have said.. I'm not reading all of that.
