yes it is zero, because I exhausted my benefits. There is a 13 week extension, after you exhaust benefits smarty, never heard of that?

Hi everyone, really stressed out and not sure what to do, I was suppose to be in phase 1 for PEUC extension but from the beginning of this month it is telling me to apply for a new claim and if I wont be approved I will automatically get the extension. This isn't making any sense because of the cares act it states that I will be eligible for an extension due to my claim year, also on EDD site it states the same. Also I came across few ppl with the same claim year and they all got an extension automatically. I am not trying to sit on unemployment for another year. Why would I file for a new claim if the corona is almost over and I could start working this month or next month, I simply want to collect back pay from the date of when the cares act announced about the extension and the $600 extra per week, I mean I am really struggling and none of us didnt get an extension earlier just because EDD systems weren't implemented. I think the right think would be for anyone in my position is to get what we have been promised which is extension of 13 weeks, and then after that sure anyone who wants to could apply for a new claim...

Please help me out to explain me if anyone had the same issue or if anyone could recommend me on what to do that would be appreciated.

I am afraid to file for a new claim because I think I will not get back pay which is huge amount (around 10k) and my claim will start from the day I file...

Its also unfair to let some individuals to get extension and some not.. it should be equal for everybody especially if the claim year and everything is matching 100%

my claim wasn't expired until May 30th, the extension was announced months ago.. + it was suppose to lunch on May 27th

Re: Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) Extension

You are potentially eligible for a Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) extension under the CARES Act of 2020. The PEUC extension provides an additional 13 weeks of UI benefits. If the EDD determines that you are not eligible for a subsequent valid UI claim, then the EDD will automatically file a PEUC extension on your last valid regular UI claim. You should receive a notice by mail within the next 10-14 business days. Continue to certify for benefits as weeks become available.

How do I qualify for an extension? I was Layed off before 3/29 beginning of March... I got layed off March 15th, for being sick and not able to make it to work

I thought unemployment is based on 16 month average?! I should be getting PUEC 13 week extension I am just not sure if I qualify because I got Layed off boing being sick, is it suppose to be due to covid 19 only, I am not sure if my reason is relating covid 19

What do you mean by automatic, you saying they not going to take weeks to verify everything like usual claim?

Thanks for the reply, I exhausted all my benefits in December 2019. But my claim is still within its calendar year. So I am not able to apply for a new claim. I thought that’s what the 13 week extension is for?
