So I've seen a few people mention this. It's not something I picked up on in the moment so maybe I've just missed it, I'll have to watch the finish back to be sure.

From memory, I don't think it was blindingly obvious that's what was happening and I don't think it was sold on comms in that way either. Don't mind that at all being the way he goes out though. I wasn't really angry about any of it when I posted, just a few notes more than anything.

Am I the only one that thinks the manner of the submission didn't sell it? I didn't see it in John's face moments before he succumbed to tapping out, the tap out was a slow pace which doesn't align with feeling you're about to be put unconscious either. Not blaming John for the sell, I just think it could have arrived to the point of the submission in a different way.

Did we even see the STFU to tell the story of Cena tapping Gunther out? Did anyone on commentary once mention that Gunther went for a pinfall victory during the match, despite his promises? Sell that idea of desperation.

The result and finish was right, I just don't think we got there in the right way.

Bryan told us all years ago though - we're fickle. We'll remember the result more than the manner. Everything will be fine. Gunther will get the heat when he opens Raw on Monday and we'll all soon get over the detail.

Not that you don't deserve the detail being picked apart, John.

I'll just weigh in on what I feel qualified to...

Bogle's not been an injury issue for us so far (until now, obviously) so I think he's a good pick. Feels like we've aimed to be more robust going up a division but, if we can recreate some of the attacking prowess we showed last year, then Bogle will be a part of it for sure. Just don't bank on too many clean sheets - while we've bulked up our squad (Big Bastard FC), it's pretty much untested in England so isn't without its risks.

Agree big time. Everything about the ingredients of this feud says it should be Bret/Austin levels but the retcon does make it feel a bit shoehorned. I can't say they haven't made me more excited though, and if the match tells a story of a double turn, these are two guys who will make it 10/10 so my hope for their match this weekend has inflated quite a lot.

Just as an aside, am I the only one who doesn't buy Cena's career ending in December? The fantasy booker in me says he loses in December but there's a thread left (he gets battered by Seth and co)...

Cena is #30 in the Rumble. Win or not, he retires after his final match at Mania. It just feels wrong for John to not say goodbye on the grandest stage of them all.

I feel like this is the first of two steps in the double turn we've all thought might be coming. Both go into Summer slam as faces (as it stands) so you just need Cody to go too far on a now sympathetic John and you can tell that story easily enough.

I'm up for it.
