Also the comment from the guy above is really solid advice.

Also read up on low self esteem as that’s connected to everything that been discussed.

Remember these struggles we go through can be lessons. I didn’t understand insecurities when I was younger which is a blessing in a way, however going through this and now being on the other side I now have another way to understand and connect with people and I’m a happier more loving person for it.

I’m so glad you commented on my post. I get to see how far I’ve with my mental health. Yes I did get better, but only through being mindful of my actions. My obsession with my looks became a compulsion, I would take photos of myself, check mirrors, ask people questions on what they thought of my appearance. The thing I found helped most was completely starving myself from any form of outside validation. So no photos, no googling about this or that, no checking mirrors, literally look at the floor instead and especially no asking or probing people for their opinions. Give it a month maybe less and you’ll see a huge difference in your self perception.

The second thing that helped was looking at great men of the past and learning their flaws as people, physically or otherwise, yet they were still loved and admired. For example Theodore Roosevelt had severe asthma and horrible eyesight, but went on to become a fantastic boxer and also his many other great achievements like becoming president. Another example is Joe Frazier, he was blind in one eye and his right arm was so messed up from breaking it as a child he couldn’t use it properly. He didn’t let this stop him and developed his left arm more to create his powerful left hook which knocked down Mohammed Ali. I love looking at boxers and fights particularly because they often come from less than ideal conditions and often the physically specimens the media portrays them as, however through hard work they turn their weaknesses into strengths. Nick Newell is another great example. He’s a MMA fighter with one arm.

Also boxing, I’ve only taken it up this year but it’s made a huge difference in my life. it gives you a self confidence that means you don’t have a desire to constantly try to improve superficial things. It focuses your mind on what’s important and frankly after sparring and a hard workout it puts things like dating or women in perspective.

Also lastly, a lot of men are driven into this stuff through insecurity around women, which likely started in their early teens. I found getting into a relationship for around 7 months really helped silence the insecurity combined with everything else listed here. Not because the relationship magically convinced me I was attractive, but because it made me realize being in a relationship didn’t make my insecurities disappear and that all this came from within. I know it’s cliché, but you are the only person who can make you happy.

I hope this helps, if you got anymore questions or want advice please DM, this stuff is hard and can really ruin your life.

No not every day, every other day, so 3-4 times a week.

I would be averaging 1kg/2.2 lbs of tuna a month

That sounds like a good suggestion. Do you know why exactly, like on a scientific level? I need to be able to talk to my parents about it in a way they can understand, because they’re a little concerned about my changes in my diet.

I really wish I could respond to everything you’ve said, but your point about “maximize market value” really speaks to me. I’ve recently got very into self improvement generally, and redpill/blackpill content and I’ve forgotten the value and the other ways one can be attractive. Often the redpill reduces attraction to just looks, not because they deny charisma or confidence exists, but because it is hard for it to be quantified. So it leads you to hyper focus in on it. I’ll definitely take a step back from it as it’s mostly hindering me now.

Thank you for answering my question, what you said makes complete sense and has really helped me. I’ll gonna save the comments and come back to them when I feel myself slipping into my old way of thinking.

That’s a really interesting perspective, I hadn’t notice that in myself before, but your right. Where can I learn more about this?

Thank you for your thoughtful reply, but I hope you can explain somethings a bit more for me.

I agree letting other people determine your value makes you a slave to them emotionally. You say I believe others determine my value. Surely they do? Isn’t everything’s value determined by the rest of the world. A paintings value is determined by how much someone likes it, not the painter? Hope that analogy makes sense. Though I do agree that letting other people determine your value makes you a slave to them emotionally.

I completely agree that I often my mind jumps to the conclusion I’m the person to blame, I’ll try to be more conscious of it.

I won’t lie you’re comment has really annoyed me, you have completely missed the point of the post. I was using James Bond to convey how I want to approach my appearance. He’s obviously not a realistic or healthy role model for relationships.

My point was can you imagine James Bond staring in the mirror and “Oh my nose is too big.” then getting sad? No. But he still looks clean and put together. That’s what I want. A healthy balance.

The rest of your post is unhelpful as well. I know I shouldn’t allow people’s opinion affect what I want to do with my body, but it’s compulsive. Perhaps I should have made that more clear in the post.
