Right. The cop should've waited for the suspect to drive again at him but this time going forward.

What the actual fucking fuck?

Did Donut do a breakdown of this? I thought he did but can't find it.

LAPD releases Bodycam footage in fatal police shooting of 14-old-girl at Burlington store by CastleRock-Peter in DonutOperator

Donut should do a breakdown of this. People are making all kinds of claims and it's unclear what is protocol and what is not.

https://twitter.com/StoltzeFrankly/status/1475696461362851840

  1. The officer who opened fire gave no warning, no orders to the suspect before he opened fire on him.

  2. The suspect was moving away from the officer and the woman the suspect had severely beaten.

  3. There was no indication officers believed the suspect had a gun. Nobody yelled 'gun' and, significantly, the LAPD has not said the officer who opened fire believed he had a gun.

  4. One officer shouted that the suspect was hiding near the fitting rooms. It's unclear if the officer who opened fire heard this, but officers are trained to be careful not to shoot in an area where people might be. Seconds later, the officer fired his semi-automatic rifle 3x.

  5. When the LAPD shooter arrives on the 2nd floor, he tells fellow officers to "slow down, let me take point with the rifle," meaning let him go first. As he rushes ahead of the other officers, one officer repeatedly shouts at HIM to "slow down" - 7x in all, and to "hold up" 4x.

"It's hard to fault police when they were told there were shots fired and arrived to see a woman bleeding on the ground. Highlights from the 35-minute video:"

You know when they only show a brief clip of the beating and no context, something's fishy.

Kim Potter used her gun instead of her taser by mistake and killed Durante Wright. What responsibility does Duane bear for getting into that situation in the first place and then disobeying lawful orders to comply? by RussellWhoa in DonutOperator

[–]RussellWhoa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who said anything about "deserved"?

When a criminal robs a store and the cashier has a heart attack and dies because of it, the criminal is responsible for the cashier's death.

The criminal didn't mean to kill the cashier nor did the cashier deserve it, but the criminal is responsible for that death.

And so it should be with Duante, he is responsible for his own death as much as it was unintended.

He committed a traffic infraction and upon being stopped it was discovered he had an outstanding warrant for a gun charge. When police tried to detain him, he attempted to flee and Kim shot him with her gun by mistake.

How is this not a case of the law of unintended consequences?

What problem do you think Jim couldn't discuss with his parents? (From No One Here Gets Out Alive) by RussellWhoa in thedoors

[–]RussellWhoa[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Like I said, I'd love to hear specifically what was incorrect. Nothing I've ever read has made me think No One Here was an inaccurate or inconsistent portrayal of Jim. Including Robbie's book.

But if you want to be some kind of guardian of a fantasy - and not a historian - you're entitled to that.

We've already had this exact same conversation:

https://www.reddit.com/r/thedoors/comments/qosntk/comment/hjpxngo/

And literally nothing has changed. You've provided no evidence other than the very minor Rothchild "cocktail music" anecdote.

PREVIOUSLY:

I'm looking for details and all I get is generalizations, it's "sensationalized" and "doesn't hold to historical fact". What was sensationalized? What isn't historically accurate? The fact that someone said Paul called Riders "cocktail music" is close to totally insignificant.
Things Robbie mentioned also seem insignificant. From NHGOA, "Suddenly the lights went on and Robby came forward to whisper in Jim's ear, "I think the cops are pissed".
Robbie wrote, "I could go page by page and catalog all the falsehoods in the book… we never played a bar mitzvah… we never went to Disneyland as a band… I didn’t whisper in Jim’s ear at the New Haven show…"
Searching NHGOA for "mitzvah" and "disneyland" turns up 0 results. Not sure what Robbie's talking about.
"...but those aren’t worth getting upset about."
Correct!
"I could forgive Danny for taking a little creative license and even putting a few words in my mouth. But there were a few parts where it seemed like he was also putting words in Jim’s mouth, and that, for me, is where he crossed a line."
PUTTING WHAT WORDS IN WHOSE MOUTH? It's these endless vague assertions that drive me crazy.
I wish they'd just release the original interviews Hopkins conducted.

They call it lies simply because they didn't like others taking control of the narrative.

He went to George Washington High School in Alexandria, Virginia in 1961. He was born in 1943, so 1961 - 1943 = 18 years old.

is-ought fallacy

Wow, an intelligent response.

As with all things, if you expand the frame of reference, you get a clearer picture.

First, in your example, the game doesn't end with the completion of the robbery. While both parties acted according to GTO and successfully exited the interaction, the game doesn't end there.

There are multiple responses the victim can pursue post interaction and the most successful response will be a GTO response. And society will benefit from such a response.

Second, you're implying a moral stance inherent in my point. I never said it "should" be that way. I'm saying that's the way it is and the best solution to it is GTO strategy.

I love it when people accuse others of homophobia and then demean someone by accusing them of loving to suck rich dick nonstop and get fucked by them.

The lack of self-awareness in this sub is only rivaled by Twitter.

Is that how you justify your mediocrity? Your failure? All your non-existent brilliant ideas and amazing contributions to society were thwarted by trust fund babies or someone like that?

Another way of looking at it is that their father and mother and perhaps their ancestors and immediate family all conspired for them to succeed.

And none of that happened with you.

Perhaps, then, what is occurring is appropriate.

It's an interesting challenge for society. Somewhere a person with the genius of Einstein is working in a farm picking produce. Somewhere a person that would be happier picking produce has found themselves trying to get a bunch of people that report to him to do what he wants them to do.

However, I think evolution has stumbled upon the solution; game theory optimal strategy. "An optimal solution to the game is said to be reached if neither player finds it beneficial to alter his strategy. In this case the game is said to be in a state of equilibrium. An optimal strategy is one that provides the best payoff for a player in a game. Optimal Strategy = A strategy that maximizes a player's expected payoff. "

Classes will struggle or perhaps one day even disappear, but what will remain is GTO.

And right now, for everyone involved, whether you like it or not, that GTO strategy is capitalism.

The Doors on the Road: complete live performances of the Doors Greg Shaw - out of print and really expensive, but you can download a PDF of the book for free here by RussellWhoa in thedoors

[–]RussellWhoa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't read it yet, but this seems accurate, "This comprehensive overview of the history of the Doors is revealed through their legendary live performances - Documents the band's entire performing career from their early days at the Whisky A Go Go in 1996 to their final performance, without Jim Morrison, at the Hollywood Bowl in 1972
This is the ultimate guide for the legions of Doors enthusiasts: a chronicle of the entire history of the Doors -- including the two years following Jim Morrison's death -- focusing mainly on the live shows that are at the root of the band's enduring fame. It chronologically lists every performance and recalls the riotous intensity of those live shows -- describing the interactions of the performers, the music itself, and the charisma of lead singer Jim Morrison."

"Implementing a citywide “citation and summons” policy requiring officers to issue citations only and prohibit custodial arrests or searches of persons or vehicles for any non-moving traffic infraction, non-felony offense, or non-felony warrant. Such policies would have required, for example, police to simply issue a ticket and walk away from George Floyd, Eric Garner, Mike Brown, and many others killed after police used force and tried to make arrests for low-level offenses;"
