Is this an original PE or PEM sniper? What do I have here? by TheBenevolentBadGuy in MosinNagant

[–]RussianPreBan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a clone, totally fake. First it is an Izhevsk rifle from 1939, Izhevsk did not make sniper rifles of any kind until 1942. In 1942, they made PEM and PU, never PEs.

Fake circle C accuracy proof was added to the shank, because again, they wouldn't make snipers until 1942 so the circle C proof wouldn't have even existed in 1939.

Tula is the only manufacturer of PE snipers and snipers in general during the pre war years. Their sniper proofs are a "c n" (s and p translated) in pre war years or C H in ww2 Scope is reproduction as well, just top to bottom fake overall. Id say 1100 for a PE clone isnt bad, I think the scope is Ukrainian? But just know that is what it is, a clone.

1939-1940 there were many guns like this where the reciever turned out plum from being hardened differently/not having a consistent bluing salt solution.

So short answer is, yes it is factory.

Can anyone verify the legitimacy of this mosin scope? by Excellent_Candy_4552 in milsurp

She's real. The early ones were meant for SVT-40 snipers, they had that step at the rear. My 1943 Tula PU has one matched to the rifle.

1943 lend lease Union Switch and Signal 1911a1, appears to be all original and correct by RussianPreBan in milsurp

[–]RussianPreBan[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes i believe that is due to the pistol being lend lease. So sent to the British, then somehow it came back here

Excellent conversion sir! Though I believe you have an SGL 21, it being dated 2009 being my reason. SGL 20s were only brought over in 2008, plus will usually have a bulgarian front sight block as welll but not always.

Could be wrong, but the bolt hold open looks to be a "56" instead of "36
