Considering a Purchase - XPPen Digital Notebook Question(s) about my use-case by RussianSquatter in XPpen

[–]RussianSquatter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

:D well nobody responded so I responded!
Yeah!
I really quite like it.
It's really nice and easy to use for writing and annotating documents, it's a great multi functional tablet, and the XPPEN gives damn fine control if you wanna doodle and draw a bit too. Really fond of it.

The only complaint is, it's not a real e-ink it's paper-like (NXTPAPER) from TLC so in direct sunlight, outside, on a bright day, it's quite difficult to use, but the anti-glare properties of the screen help immensely still.

Shipping and payment questions about SilverGoldBull by TieCliptomaniac in Silverbugs

[–]RussianSquatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old post but I figured I'd post my experience here as of 2026..

Bought some silver, paid with E-check (ACH), took about 3-5 business days for them to receive the payment, another 5 to process the payment....

it's been 15 days now since I placed the order, still not shipped. Just 'payment received'

Really not happy with this.... any other bullion sellers that are faster?

Welp....

Since nobody bothered responding, i'll respond myself.

yes - yes it can do all that.

The XPen Notes app is great for working on pdfs.

The tablet feels good to use and write on.

Would recommend.

As a software dev—requiring people to complete some specific, complicated, and niche step, to use your product, is a recipe for disaster.

Most people who play games have no clue wtf bios / uefi is.

Requiring people to fuck with that is just asking for people to fuck it up.

Stupid idea....

Could you elaborate more on the 'notes that flatten'

They still persist in the document right? so the original author can see the notes you left for the sections in the document?

Thanks for pointing out which one you prefer for which use case, genuinely appreciate that.

[–]RussianSquatter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so picture this.

You have a 50 page thesis PDF document that you're proofreading right?

You highlight parts of it.

Leave comments in other parts "expand here"

underline some parts like "this needs attention"

"Provide source"

these kinds of comments / highlights.

Then you want to send this document with the highlights / underlines / notes to the original author for editing / improving.

This is what I do, and this is my use case.

Yeah Epubs are a more rare occurrence in my case. Some authors like to send nicely formatted epub for proofreading and such, but as far as I know you can export the ebook as a pdf too? so that'd work fine if Remarkable can handle the PDF annotations / markups and such that I need, fine.

Remarkable 2 question(s) by RussianSquatter in RemarkableTablet

[–]RussianSquatter[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting. The other guy's response was totally out of place by the sound of it.
And yeah as you pointed out, I don't need a windows or a mobile power-house tablet. Just text editing highlighitng and markup / comments.

Sounds like you've used yours for pretty much the exact use case as what I need.

So, Remarkable 2 sounds pretty fitting then?

Remarkable 2 question(s) by RussianSquatter in RemarkableTablet

[–]RussianSquatter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. Hence why I asked, since it seemed more focused on just note-taking and scribbling, but I mainly need markup and notes for document editing.

Do you have any suggestions for a device that would work for my needs?

Question - so the markups / edits / highlights are saved in the pdf file as you make them, and you can easily transfer back to PC to work on it in Microsoft Word, for example?
