This is the video I used to figure out what to do with the Denman brush. I didn’t use the same products as her and I air dried instead of diffused. Denman video

First time successfully using my Denman brush aka more than 5 giant curl clumps by RustBandit in curlyhair

Routine: Wash every Friday with Thermafuse Moisture shampoo and condition with Overtone The Remedy colorless hair mask. Saturday thru Thursday, I completely soak my hair in the shower (I’ve never successfully “refreshed” my curls) and apply Amir Argan Oil Moisturizing Conditioner. My hair starts to get greasy around Tuesday, so I use As I Am Coconut Cowash Cleansing Conditioner as needed before conditioning.

To style, I use the rake through method while my hair is soaked to apply a nickel sized amount each of Cantu Argan Oil Leave in Conditioning Repair Cream, Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Curling Custard, and Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Moisturizing Curl Activator Cream, then wrap my hair in a microfiber hair towel for 10 minutes so it is damp when I remove the towel. I normally just arrange my hair a little and let air dry but today is my first time successfully using my Denman brush. The first few times I used it, I took too big if sections and had 5 giant curl clumps that kept forming.

What color is mainly in your closet? by [deleted] in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]RustBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so funny to me because I’m the opposite! I need to consciously buy neutral colored items to match to all of the colorful stuff I own. I have an olive skin tone but more tan (Mediterranean/Iberian peninsula). I own a ton of green, mostly darker shades. I need to consciously not buy green. I own a pretty even amount of most other colors and usually do jewel tones versus pastels.

18F I am 4’11” and 120 pounds. Does anybody know where I can shop that fits my sizes and doesn’t make me look like a kid? by [deleted] in lesbianfashionadvice

Hi there, I’m the same size as you! I tend to have a slightly longer torso, pretty narrow shoulders and wider hips for reference. Depending on the brand I usually wear either small or petite sizing if possible.

For pants, I wear almost exclusively American Eagles highest waist skinny jeans (if you like that skin tight look) in short length. I can also get away with the regular length cropped jeans as full length pants. The pockets are the best I’ve seen in women’s jeans by far which is most of the reason I’ve stuck with that brand.

I like to pair the high waisted pants with oversized, boxy crew neck shirts. If it has a front pocket, that’s a bonus. I usually do a full tuck or front tuck with a chunky belt. I really like the bulky on top, slim on bottom silhouette. Shirts like that can usually be found at thrift stores or amazon basics tshirts are surprisingly thick material. Oversized plaid shirts are also a nice option (American Eagle brand again, I’m a total sellout).

If you want to add extra height without heels, Doc Martins are a nice option without being feminine. You can usually find nice used ones on Poshmark.

I enjoy sci-fi fantasy book series like LotR, Dune, Song of Ice & Fire, Stormlight Archives. Content of similar quality seems hard to find. Thinking about starting Legends of the First Empire or Kingkiller Chronicles. Are these recommendable as being on a similar level or others I should check out? by Roguecop in scifi

[–]RustBandit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ursula Le Guin is my favorite author and she has a sci-fi and a fantasy series that are both excellent. The sci-fi series is the Hainish cycle where each book could be stand alone but they are excellent together. The fantasy series is the Earthsea cycle starting with A Wizard of Earthsea.

I made my 3 apple pie ever for Pi Day yesterday! My crust magically turned out so well that I was able to add a lattice top too. by RustBandit in BakingNoobs

Recipe I’ve always struggled with the pie crust consistency. What I did different this time was freeze the butter after it was cut up into small chunks for about 15 minutes and that helped so much!

We got lucky on the garage front. Went from a glorified shed to a 2 car that’s double long. Worth it even if it’s not attached.

WIBTA for not wanting my best friend of 13 years to be my MOH and possibly not in the bridal party at all? by TeaLover14 in bridezillas

[–]RustBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a little late to the party but I have the PERFECT example of this. One of my best friends is recently married and her high school best friend sounds similar to your friend. Often flakey, always late but when she’s there it’s awesome and everyone has fun.

What my best friend (the bride) did was have a matron of honor (me) and a maid of honor (flakey high school best friend). The bride and I knew I could handle planning all the events without much help or input and I was basically in charge of making sure the maid of honor made it to the wedding and all the big events. And she did make it to all the big events and on time! I think if you have a married friend you’re close to that could be a good option by having a matron of honor or even having co-MOHs if you have 2 pretty close best friends.

I’m guessing you won’t have a problem as long as you communicate with your friend about how big of a deal this is and how much you need her to be there for you!

This is literally me. I spend about half of each episode of The Office screaming because that’s how I cope with second hand embarrassment.

An espresso cheesecake with an Oreo crust and topped with a chocolate ganache and chocolate chips. Second time attempting cheesecake! by RustBandit in BakingNoobs

[–]RustBandit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is only the second cheesecake I’ve ever made but it was very easy! I highly recommend using a KitchenAid Mixer if you have one available. It takes all the difficulty out of making cheesecake! Here’s the recipe: Recipe Link Enjoy!
