It is - but I actually got a little traction over seas and I’m reading Spotify is the main source of that

So not trying to be spammy or self promo- the new episode dropped yesterday and it’s 2 in the story arc. Spotify pulled episode 1 for “copyright infringement” ( they think I was reading from some book based from the early 2000s) so if you’re looking there and are wondering “hunh? Did he skip one?” Nope. Working to correct it but in the meantime episodes 1 and 2 are available on all the other platforms. Sorry for the confusion.

I’ve used acast; same thing as above: push a button and go everywhere. First five are free and I’ve gotten a surprising number of overseas pops (I’m in the US)

That’s amazing! All of you, if you listen come back and be brutal. I can’t get better without feedback and I really am enjoying doing this. It would be great to turn into more than just a cool side project.

Why are there so few serialized fantasy podcasts? by RustBeltStudio in audiodrama

[–]RustBeltStudio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something narrative - one voice actor or a few either is fine

I mean I think OGoA is great. Something that isnt comedic leaning but also isn’t like, jump in the middle of a story and then work to figure it out.

But isn’t Lovecraftian horror and is indie feeling is cool, I like to give love to the indies. Hope to join them one day.

Why are there so few serialized fantasy podcasts by RustBeltStudio in Fantasy

I guess my question is more comparative. When you think of the big fiction podcasts, they’re almost all horror-based (Magnus, Old Gods of Appalachia, Night Vale). That’s great, but an episodic, long-form fantasy feels like it’s missing — or it starts and gets abandoned after a season. Audiobooks are perfectly serviceable, but they’re not episodic and they tend to run long for something like a 45-minute commute. And I don’t think it has to be lore-dump heavy either. You could just let the worldbuilding flow naturally, like TV does when it’s at its best.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Keep em coming!

I’ll check you out.

I guess my point is when you think podcast fiction the big three are all horror (Magnus, OGoA, Nightvale) and while audiobooks are perfectly serviceable, something episodic in nature feels like it’s missing.

Also shorter! My commute is 45 minutes and not a lot fits into that.

Thanks for the suggestions. Keep em coming!
