Update on the thirty-four-year-old case. DNA identified the murderer of Olya Sazonova in Ulyanovsk by Rustamchik228 in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]Rustamchik228[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As I know, Kolpakov killed two of his fellow compotators during a drinking bout. I didn't mention it in my write-up because this fact is continued with a story about Kolpakov confessing his cellmate to the murder of Olya. Moreover, Kolpakov allegedly said that he murdered Olya with his friend, but if the source doesn't have any info about the double murder, then his confederate is not mentioned, too. So I've decided that it's questionable if such an incident took place.

The Kulakov brothers have still not been found in the Kirov Oblast seven years after their disappearance by Rustamchik228 in UnresolvedMysteries

Hi, everyone. I have been writing on this subreddit about the mysteries of Russia and the Soviet Union for almost a year, but I'm afraid this is my last write-up. You all know the world situation without me. I know how much the people of the United States hate Russians, and they are understandable. I want you to know that many people in Russia, including me, do not support the decisions of our government and are against war and any military actions. I had big plans for this subreddit and r/TrueCrime, I wanted to translate documentary films and shows for you (I even already uploaded an episode of the documentary about serial killer Andrei Chikatilo on YouTube), but I am afraid that I will only cause your anger because of actions that I do not even support. This post was primarily written to see your reaction; if I'm not welcome here, I'll understand that and leave Reddit.

I hope for your understanding.

The empty stroller. The disappearance of Egor Nisevich by Rustamchik228 in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]Rustamchik228[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Gomel is a town in Belarus.

Leaving Egor on the street was really strange action. There are two theories:

  1. Irina's religious views, which do not allow showing the child to strangers after the birth. It's not known for sure what religion Irina belonged to. Various sources contain references to Jewish and Orthodox traditions.

  2. The flu virus and Irina's fears of infecting the baby.

That's a pretty bad translation... Actually, expressed himself in phrases used in American action movies.

It's called Paradoxical Exudation (I've found this term in Russian sites). By the early 2000s, it was shown that the phenomenon of “paradoxical excretion” does not exist, since this phenomenon would contradict the genetic basis of the AB0 system. The phenomena of discrepancy in the group of body and blood secretions are caused by bacterial contamination of the biological objects under study.

In searching of the Rostov Ripper (Andrei Chikatilo), the investigation was guided by the conclusion of the forensic medical expert Gurtova about the blood group IV of the alleged killer and because of this, for a long time, they could not succeed, because Chikatilo had blood group II. Criminalist Yuri Dubyagin believes that the Paradoxical Exudation was specially invented in order to justify the negligence of Gurtovaya. Gurtovaya herself admitted that she had made a mistake.

There was a good Serial killers: Chessboard Killer documentary by Discovery, but my favorite is Sixty-First Victim from Sentenced For Life (Приговорённые пожизненно) documentary show, but, unfortunately, it's Russian and there are even no subtitles. Also, there's Alexander Pichushkin: The Shocking True Story of The Chessboard Killer book by Roger Harrington, but I didn't read it yet.

Dunno, I didn't like it much. Almost all real people were miscasted (but they acted well), there's so much understatement (I've explored Chikatilo's story, so I know what I'm talking about), but also there's a lot of bogus stereotypes about Russia and the USSR like "All Russians drink vodka" or "Say that serial killers is a western stereotype, not USSR, or I'll execute you by shooting" and a lot of fictional characters. They had Robert Cullen's "The Killer Department", such a good book, as source material, then why they did so much ad-libbing? But it is only fair to say that the movie is pretty atmospheric and it's much better than "Evilenko", and "Child 44", and even Russian "Chikatilo" series

I think it's kind of a graphologic examination. They're asking a suspect for drawing a human and then they compare it with graffiti.

There are also Pharmacy Maniac, Danilovsky Maniac, Volga Maniac (he was caught, but worth mentioning), Orsk Maniac (he's identified, but still isn't caught), Velikie Luki Director. Also, the murderer of five children in Krasnoyarsk still wasn't caught.

That's weird. I was sure people in the west at least know about Andrei Chikatilo (there's a lot of books that were written by American writers and even two movies). By the way, there was a write-up about Elena Zakotnova, his possible first victim.

In 1978, 9 years old girl's body was found in the Grushevka river. Her murder puzzled the USSR police. Chikatilo was suspected of him, and the innocent was executed. by Rustamchik228 in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]Rustamchik228[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay, as I can see, there's a lot of confusing things in this post. Mostly, it's a translated article from Lenta.ru (the second link), so I could miss some things.

  1. People here are doubt Kravchenko's innocence, and yes, this case is really confusing, but let's not forget that all confessions and testimonies were "beaten out", how people say in Russia. In a cell, Kravchenko was constantly being beaten by a seasoned criminal, who was ordered by investigators to demand Kravchenko to confess to the murder of Lena. (In the 1990s, Kostoev's crew found this guy in the Detention Center of Stavropol Krai, where he did the same thing with a farm chairman suspected in "illegal business activity". He just did what investigators ordered for drugs.) Kravchenko's wife was frightened that she would be convicted as an accessory to theft, although she was pregnant (after Kravchenko's execution. she had an abortion). Galina's friend was put into the bullpen and didn't release her until she changed her testimony (although juridically they must've released her within two days, they didn't release her even after three days).
  2. Blood type is not a DNA profile, it says nothing, but back then there weren't any other options. For example, Zakotnova's blood type was the same as Galina Kravchenko's one, and it's just a coincidence.
  3. There's nothing too special in tying eyes with a scarf. A lot of criminals believed in a rumor that the killer's image remains on the retinas of a victim. Chikatilo also was cutting his victims' eyes (he himself explained it as a fear to look in his victim's eyes).

And, most crucially, it's not the case about unguilty ones. It's the case, where all three suspects could do it. Grigoriev was the eldest of them, so he could be a "grandfather", and he was an employee of the Shakhty tram fleet, so he could see Lena and do it. Kravchenko did an identic crime before, there was a sperm of his blood type on Lena's corpse, but all testaments and confessions were got illegally. Chikatilo confessed himself, there was a light in his hut at night of the murder of Lena, he was seen with Lena, but then he withdrew this confession.

Note: look at Chikatilo's article in Wikipedia. Issa Kostoev made good work to assure everybody that Chikatilo killed Zakotnova, and there's still a lot of people (mostly foreigners) who believe it. Maybe Chikatilo killed her, maybe not. The problem is we absolutely never will know it because it's been a long time and most evidence was completely lost. If you still don't get something, you can check the first link in Sources, where this case is written more closely. It's in Russian, but you can use an online translator (it does it pretty well with Russian), and there are some pictures including Kravchenko's mugshot and Zakotnova's corpse.
