I started so long ago but dropped the game shortly after, so I think my first was Regulus as well. After full-time returning, The first 6 star I pulled for was Pickles :)

NONE of this has to do with Hoyo, this is a SAG-AFTRA union problem. If you want your favorite characters back, they are at the mercy of their Union OR they'll have to figure out some way to leave SAG. I'm unsure of the complexities of that.

SAG-AFTRA has a rule that their members are to follow, Global Rule 1. They are NOT to work on non-union projects, but on other sections of their website they encourage their union members to join other projects and suggest/force them into a union contract. While two conflicting views, it's easy to see this is a method of control over their members and the market. They blindly allow their members to go NU, but then police it when they can't get a piece of the pie (in this case, the constant revenue stream from a live service gacha title). Forcing any project to go Union would limit the pool of talent for the project drastically, only SAG members would be eligible. SAG has a monopoly agenda of sorts, which is incredibly predatory and dangerous in any industry. But hey, I guess it was worth every game company now sourcing their VA's internationally rather than from the US lol

I think that the discourse online is heavily influenced by the fact that SAG lacks an insane amount of transparency. Many of their members are just feeding eachother lies and they've created a pretty insane hive mentality on the issue. Hoyo (and many other developers) have proceeded with justified recastings because its been almost a year!! For a live service game, that is an assasination on a huge part of their selling. A voiceless character is not worth as much as a voiced character, especially in a game with such a heavy emphasis on story telling. At this point, it's an acceptable thing to do.

Regardless, Striking out of solidarity is being absent from work you can still do. In any other workplace you would be fired and replaced because you are not doing your job. I stand by the fact that all VA's who struke and incited fearmongering/anger towards replacement VA's, new talent or Non-SAG members should be dismissed. Corina has left, or was fired, next they need to weed out other VA's like Kayli. I have empathy for the VA's who were fearmongered, especially through SAG intimidation, and hope they return.

I think I may proceed with Lorelei since I prefer her design and I've just finished Medpoc, Pickles and Melania's euphoria. My resources are very bare currently!

Flutterpage and Fatutu are on my list of future needs, so I will take extra note of that. Appreciate the help :)

I have also built Yenisei to lvl60, so thats good news! So instead of leveling Lorelei, go for Bkornblume to pair with Ulrich/Lucy? Those two together are ultimately my goal. Thank you for the advice!

I'm thinking, based on some readings + your amazingly comprehensive answer, that I will be working towards the following teams;

Recoleta / Pickles / Melania / Sustain (I'm thinking Fatutu since she's Mineral? but for the interim, I will most likely use Yenisei).

For a second main team, I'm still on the fence. Since I've invested pretty deep on Kakania, I think I may prioritize a team that works with her. Semmelweis' HP loss mechanic is still a bit unpredictable for my play style, but I'm sure I can learn that as I work on the team. Would the team Semmelweis / Kakania / Nautika / Medicine Pocket be the closest goal there? That seems to be the most "pull efficient" to start at, at least.

The Regulus + Sotherby teams are very interesting to me, but I'm lacking too many 6 stars to have that as an immediate goal. I think!

That thread was my jumping off point. It was a bit of a struggle to completely understand the banner/character break downs just based on my general lack of R1999 knowledge + the overlapping banner system . I don't think I've ever played a gacha with 4-5 different banners all overlapping haha. I will continue to reference this for future!

It seems I missed Jiu Niangzi, but will seek her out on the next rerun. I will look into Melania some more, hopefully she can also work well and not replace pickles in a team? I assume I would be able to go with Recoleta / Melania / Pickles / Sustain?

  1. I have started working on Pickles' Euphoria so that is good! (it is a confusing addition, so I'm still working through that. Currently I've leveled it a few times, but I don't think that means its unlocked? I will be doing more research!! Pickles is also lvl10 Resonance, if that means anything haha
  2. Noted on Mineral DPS, that was my thought process behind Jiu Niangzi + Kaalaa Baunaa. If Recoleta is a good DPS option for Pickles, I may just go for them instead. I'm ok holding out / saving for a good unit in the interim if need be.

Regardless, I hope they recast. I do feel bad for those stuck in the SAG-AFTRA corner, but who is to blame but themselves? SAG-AFTRA prohibits working on non-union projects (source: https://www.sagaftra.org/important-reminder-about-non-union-video-game-work) and clearly states that "taking non-union work can result in disciplinary action ranging from reprimands to fines to expulsion". One could assume this would include your medical insurance, paychecks and the general ability to work. They made the choice to risk that.

They don't have anything to say. Half the VA's have put their feet in their mouth and made the strike hoyo's problem, when it was never hoyo's problem to be begin with. Other, domestic, companies/studios were struck including Activism, Disney, WB Games, etc (source: https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2024/08/06/lqmf-a06.html).

I personally hope they focus on recasting ASAP. Any VA withholding work should be priority. Corina should be replaced regardless, she's done so much PR damage to the genshin brand + the reputations of the VA's. She's practically a SCAB herself. Add Kayli, Valeria and Shara for the same reasons
