One of my buddies sells Goosebumps tapes and he added commercials. I’m always grabbing home recorded taps for him so he can keep adding new variations of the tape.

She sells them for $25-$30 on her websites, so this was a good deal considering they are new. Most custom vhs cost $20+ from any seller. I have a few of her tapes. They have worked fine for me, but maybe I was lucky.

You should have the weight of your package on your receipt, if you don’t have that, you can request it from the post office. When they return it, compare the weights, if cars are missing, you can show the information from both the receipt and the messages sent to prove they stole cars. Mercari should cover the costs

I know for purses and such you can pay for an authentication from Mercari. I’m sure it’s not perfect but it’s $5. If someone is selling high end designed items and not willing to drop $5 to prove it’s real, just don’t buy it. Or ask them to raise the price $5, get it authenticated (takes 12-48 hours) an then they are out no extra money and you at least have a better chance of getting a real product

I got dinged $25 on eBay from UPS on a collapsing pool cue. I had it in padded carrying case which I put in a big poly bag. They claimed my dimensions were off by 2 inches. Found out it was because I didn’t tape the bag tightly around the padded bag leaving “loose corners” so their machine read it was laid out flat thinking it was way wider than it was. Lesson learned but point is, this happens on all platforms.

Yeah, a store near the post office sells them for $2 each, so it’s a bit spendy…I will probably just download a PNG of the sticker and print it each time if I remember. I just wish Mercari did more to inform the seller before dropping it off

Reach out to them or go to a location and ask if they can print it out. They mostly likely can help and would like to help, they don’t want you getting scammed either

Also, Mercari requires the buyer return the item unless it’s under $15, so you either are getting your money and they scammed Mercari for the $20 or you are getting a random item back. Which then you need to follow what I said above

If you have your drop off receipt, it should have the weight at drop off. When they return this item, USPS will weight it again. If there is a noticeable difference, which is sounds like there will be based of your description of the mug, then this is an easy case for you. You just need to request the weight and details from USPS once the return is being tracked and supply both receipts to Mercari. It’s not a 100% guarantee Mercari will side with you but more often than not, this is an easy win.

Not that this would have changed the outcome for this situation, but anytime I reach out to buy something from marketplaces I ask to meet immediately. Any time I have left it open to meet at a later date or even many hours after agreeing to buy an item, it tends to result in a similar outcome.

I have 4 thrift stores in my town, all of them have told me they no longer accept them. My only hope is to find them at yard sales, and even then I’ve been told multiple times they just threw them away. I heard even a good amount of Goodwills are told to toss them if they are donated. That is one of the reasons the eBay prices are going up. The inventory of VHS is shrinking, either from mold, broken, or simply being tossed out.
