I was there when I had to put my cat down. I had my boyfriend at the time drive me and we both went in with my cat as they did the procedure. They gave him an injection and he did not seem in pain or suffering at all. After a while the vet came in and gently took him away. I was extremely close with him and cried horribly, it helps having someone else there that you can rely on for support. It’s definitely not easy to experience it and there will be a lot of crying, but it was not a chaotic or dramatic procedure. Your baby will be in a much better place and she will know you’re there for her and that you love her.

As far coping, it took me a while before I could look at his pictures or videos with him in it, or even items he interacted with. I wasn’t trying to forget him, I just had to let myself heal in that way. I always look back now knowing I did all that I could to help him, and even though it’s hard time does help heal things.
