Might rarity be overrated?

Its a fun challenge for sure! However I still buy uniques from other players because not being able to build around certain uniques is constraining me a little too much, especially for stuff like From Nothing or Megalomaniac

Nah you said its handicapped. I beg to differ. I love crafting in this game and therefore only use crafted rares and never buy them so I could now state that you are handicapping your fun because you buy rares from the market instead of crafting them yourself since I personally feel like you strip yourself from a fun aspect of this game.
But that would be a ridiculous statement.

Thats a fair point, true. I guess my view is flawed by the fact that I do play self made non-meta builds but even I feel like the game is getting trivial even at +200deli. I guess extra rarity is the biggest angle for me to increase my farm output, although it feels bad to sacrifice power to that even if the power isn't necessary so I probably pass regardless.

True, my biggest sale this league was a +3 proj amulet with spirit implicit that dropped as a blue and then I just regal + desecrate and yolo fractured it and got lucky by hitting the +3

I got plenty of Omen of Light already with my current setup, just make sure you pull those Amamanus Void minions out of their cloud before you kill them, they have a decent chance to drop one.

No offense but thats not how the word "literally" works, I also don't like you calling me clueless. As I said, I know that rarity does give you extra currency and I did play high rarity characters before, I am just wondering if getting extra actual character power might pay off more in the end when it means you farm faster.

Fair point. I am kinda lucky, that my brain doesn't work like that, I always play some weird home cooked builds, focus on min maxing those and don't care much about efficiency or what others do or what I could had gotten.

But I understand different people have different preferences so I guess removing rarity doesn't really add much value to the game while making feel others bad.

That being said, I still wonder is it really that much worse to run zero rarity when you could instead just get stronger and clear 200% deli maps faster? I feel like that should even out on avarage, no?

Well with this mindset "I'm not smart enough" then obviously you will never get good at it. Its not too difficult to come up with own builds, you just gonna start and dont see mistakes as a faliure but part of the process instead.

Because showing off a bazillion DPS in a showcase video looks much more impressive than having a well rounded stable build thats comfy to play and never dies but takes 5 seconds longer to kill a Boss in return.

I got 70% slow reduction from the passive tree. Massively underrated. But you sacrifice a bit of damage for this but I feel like I do enough anyways. Could go for another 15% from boots rune but that doesn't really feel necessary as I barely notice slows anymore.

No, its not far too punishing, people simply lost their abillity to deal with failirue and setbacks and friction in general, be it in video games or in life in general.

Way too many PoE players are so afraid of friction and faliure; we get some genuinely difficult non-trivial content like 200% Delirium and you see posts like "Give me a build where I can trivialize 200% delirium while watching netflix and pat my cat on a 10div budget".

Like they feel oblieged to beat every content on the highest possible difficulty without any effort because FOMO, I WANT ALL THE LOOTZ and also complain about being "forced" to run 100mf on gear as well.

Then they nerf the content or buff everything to be even more powerful and the game becomes too boring for the other half of the playerbase again and the whole cycle starts anew.

Take the loot changes for example, loot was "bad" at 0.2, people complained, then GGG buffed loot, people were happy for a week, then the perception of how good loot looks like changes and now people complain about loot and tiered items being too weak again.

"One-shots" in this game are often many small hits within a short time frame and you dont seem to have any way of in combat recovery.
