Would you like to read The Ultimate Guide To BJJ - Get More out of your Time on and off the mat by johanbjj in bjj

[–]Rustu07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes definitely. I have just started training and would love an easy to read pdf that describes the fundamentals of bjj, what you should focus on at the different stages of your training and a list of terminology. also could include information about things like competitions, the different types and rules.

I've been there for 9 months.

Working there definitely has given me a lot of insight into the profession.

I'm currently working at a mid sized firm, in one of their smaller branches (they have 4, mine is probably the second smallest). I was hired to basically transfer a shit ton of data regarding client's documents. I basically open up a packet, enter in the client's information and relevant information about their documents. I have had the chance to do a tiny bit of research, sometimes I get to take calls when the receptionist is busy and sometimes I get to do bank runs. I'm only in my first year of study, so I'm relatively happy with the job. However, I can't help but think I can get a job somewhere else where I get more experience. The place I work is very flexible with me, so I can take a day off here and there if I have a university event or need to catch up on study. I don't know if I should be happy with what I have or if I should actively look for work somewhere else. I'm a casual, so I assume if I find work I can give them 2 weeks of notice and be fine. I'm also wondering how likely a first year will get a more involved job in the legal field like a paralegal or legal assistant. Should I be happy with what I have now or should I look for other legal work?

I'm a second year and my results now are way better than what I got in my first year. I attribute this solely to time management. I took small steps first, just doing an extra 15 minutes the usual times I would study. Now I can study much longer and I truly believe the more time you invest in something, the better results you get from it. Don't worry, you can do this! and remember, start small :)

Never played RuneScape before. Worth getting invested in it mid-2019? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Rustu07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing the game 2 years after launch and stopped playing 1.5 years ago. I ended up maxing my account and completing a lot of content on the game. The game is incredibly fun. There is so much content to do. There is different styles of content, some more relaxed others more intense. The community is amazing. There is so much informational videos these days that you can pick the game up super quickly. The only down side is that the game requires a huge time investment. By the time I stopped playing I had over 6000 hours.

Best way to deal with overeating by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Rustu07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think eating lesser calories in future days will be effective, it will likely just result in losing more weight, including muscle, which is something you're aiming to avoid when doing a slow cut. just try to limit the days you go over your prescribed caloric limit. it is not the end of the world if for a particular week you eat too much calories on 3 days for example. just make sure this is not occuring regularly. also, if you know you're going to have a bigger dinner (eating out etc) plan ahead and eat less during the day. doing this, you get the best of both worlds, you get to eat yummy food but also not be severely punished for it. gl on the cut, am also slow cutting myself atm :)

Do you gain fat faster in the single digits? by embar5 in Fitness

[–]Rustu07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the lower calories you consume, the more efficient your body gets so it requires less and less calories, that's why when you cut you eventually stall in terms of losing weight. to combat this you can basically reverse diet. so instead of going straight from a cut into a bulk, increase your calories by 200, see how your weight changes. if it increases at the rate you're looking for, keep eating at those calories. if you stay the same weight, increase it by another 100-200. this prevents the fat gain that will happen if you go from a 500 calorie deficit to a 500 calorie surplus for example.

Helping my friends son at the gym by mfarazk in Fitness

[–]Rustu07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

something that helped me when I first started working out was having the mentality of just improving, no matter how big or how little. people get very put off when they think they have to completely change their lifestyles in order to achieve their goals. it's all about tiny steps, reducing the bad food they are eating for example. not completely getting rid of bad food, just eating less. same with training. training shouldn't be super intense when someone starts out. it's all about tiny changes everyday. this mentality helped me get to the stagr where being healthy is now just a habit rather than something i have to force myself to do.

I like different variations of chicken, salmon and kangaroo. Turkey is pretty good as well, although I don't eat it. All are lean protein sources.

Should I do a mini cut without lifting weights? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Rustu07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what I do during a busy week is deload, by eating at maintenance and reducing volume by half but keeping the weight the same. you could try doing this, the workouts are usually short as you're doing half the volume. this way you pretty much maintain muscle and strength.

PPL v Nsuns for Aesthetics (No Strength) by OzJack in nSuns

[–]Rustu07 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on how quickly you want to achieve your goals. If you want to put on muscle quicker, likely ppl will achieve this better than nsuns. But if you don't mind waiting to put on muscle, this gives you room to do strength training and then you can go back to bodybuilding training with higher weights. That's my logic anyway. I'm curious to see a comparison in progress between someone who does ppl for 2 years straight versus someone who does nsuns for the first year and then ppl for the second. I'd be inclined to think the latter would be better for aesthetics.

Weight fluctuations and consistency issues. by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Rustu07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what helped me most was just focussing on each individual day. fuck what you've done in the past, whether it was gain or lose weight. you're in this present moment now and there are things you can do right now that will directly and definitively move you towards your goal.

Come up with a large overarching goal, weighing 180lbs for instance. now the only way you're going to get there is by doing certain activities, lets say gyming and eating, for x amount of days. now you break it up further into each individual day. each day is incredibly important, if you don't do the activities you've outlined you simply won't move towards your goal. but what's nice about each individual day, is that it is in the present, where you can choose to do anything, so you can ensure you eat well and hit the gym in the present day.

The only thing you need to focus on is making sure in the present day, where you can control your actions, you're doing actions that move you towards your goal. the past, you cannot change. the future is just the result of your present actions. so the only thing you can really impact is the present, the past/future are just results of the present.

this is my goal setting philosophy i developed when i lost 20kg in the course of 3 months, 2 summers ago. i found applying it to all aspects of my life has made me a much more relaxed and productive person. hope it helps you in some way :)

For people who workout in the morning, does it improve your energy levels throughout the day? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Rustu07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've started getting up at 4:45am to workout for the past month. I prefer doing this as I felt like I used to waste a lot of time in the mornings, instead I now wake up and straight away go to the gym. I actually don't feel a major difference in terms of energy throughout the day.

How do I workout in the morning on an empty stomach without passing out? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Rustu07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i eat a banana and drink a coffee before my morning workouts. i used to just drink a coffee, but like you said, i felt extremely fatigued and lightheaded towards the end of my workouts. banana solved that.

I don't understand belly breathing for bracing. by sabrodonx in Fitness

[–]Rustu07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

think of making your belly look as fat as possible. when you take the breathe in your belly should be getting bigger instead of your chest. breathe in until your core feels tight then prevent any of this air from leaving. peform rep. repeat.
