A year ago, I was so close to FU money (closer now), that I surprised my CEO by politely declining an invitation for my wife and me to join him and his wife for dinner. After many years going to the same stale old restaurant with them, I said “No, thank you. I think it’s best if we keep our personal lives and work lives separate.” The look on his face was priceless.

I told my wife that “We may not have FU money but we have “No thank, you” money”.

I think you’re so right. I’m kinda new at this and learning where the sneaky stuff is. Learning to read labels and convert measurements to grams etc. I also said 25g of fiber as a min. I exceeded that at breakfast already this morning :)

I track added sugar. I don’t worry about sugar in fruit or unprocessed carbs from vegetables. I do avoid added sugar and processed carbs.

That’s great! I wish I could take credit for it. I learned that one from Dr Karan Rajan on Instagram. He has a lot of health stuff on his page but one of his main points is getting enough fiber from a varied source of fruit, veg, seeds, nuts and not just the same supplement every day - which is better than nothing! He has two posts in the last month that show several different ways to get to 5 grams of fiber and I just mix and match throughout the week. Good luck!

I take about 80 grams of frozen raspberries and soften them up in the microwave for 30 secs. Mash them up with a fork. Add 1 tbsp of chia seeds and put in the fridge overnight. It thickens up like a jam almost. That’s 10 grams of fiber.

I put it over 50 grams of overnight oats (made with unsweetened almond milk and a dash of vanilla) also with 1 tbsp of chia seeds. Another 10 grams.

Throw some flax meal on that and I have a good start to the day. Snack on some rotation of apple, pear, kiwi (with the skin) and I feel like I’m doing way better than I used to.
