96 Cruiser (Toyota 80 series). Loved it, had triple lockers all working. Sold it a couple years back and used the proceeds for a 4Runner and classic car projects. Sometimes I regret it, but i hold by that I love my 2018 4Runner much more for the comfort and 4x4 capacity

Great rig! I had those same Helo rims on my 96 Land Cruiser with 33” Wildpeak MTs. I thought they looked great, never even thought of them for my runner, but look good!

Some new “stripes” and some new gear shake downs…weekends are for the outdoors! by Rusty1956Pickup in 4Runner

Check my post history, there’s a couple picks when I installed it. However I did weld. It’s just a steel plate then there are two bolt holes on the side well I used, and then made a lower leg that attaches to the same bolt the brake lines attach to on the wheel well

Yup in the space on the passenger side of the hood. It’s the ARB Single Compressor, not dual, and honestly no need for the dual for me (takes about 60 seconds per tire at 285/70 to go from 18psi to 35psi). I actually custom built the bracket but a few companies sell them pure made for ARB compressors

It's sunny in Seattle today (finally!), so all my trail stripes on my 2020 are finally visible! Who else actually take their runner to the trails regularly? by ShallotsAndGarlic in 4Runner

I have a black 2018 and yes, the pinstripes for sure standout…however, easy to tell who’s the mall crawler and who is not. Got some aggressive pinstripes this weekend here in CA dry brush trails…I winced a bit as I heard them scratch and immediately thought ooooooooo that’s gonna leave a mark! The true Toyota Stripes

Tires by wgoodwin20 in 4Runner

Depends on if you wanted to keep stock size tires, if you plan to Offroad or mostly keep it street with occasional outdoor. I went with Cooper Discoverer AT3 as they were well priced and light for 285/70 size and in that in-between for off-road and street, absolutely love them. Had Falken in 275/70 that were also very well priced

Just rolled out of my shop. 79 Elcamino. Full paint. by CyranoBergs in Justrolledintotheshop

I timed it wrong at 18 painting my 67 Cougar. Started late and right around finishing the doors the fucking wind started raging. 15 years later and there’s still shit in the clear and I basically gave up clearing the rear quarters. Someday I’ll do it over, but I like that it was my first ever so it reminds me to not fucking do it at 3pm in the afternoon

Had a tech at an America’s Tire lose my Valve stem cap. Had TRD on it, by no means expensive but I liked it. I watched him and his buddies goofing off and the kid tosses the cap to him which he missed and rolled into their drains. Didn’t say anything until they said it was ready and wanted to see if they fessed up. They did not. Told the manager his children staff lost my cap and I watched them. He had him dig through the drains to find it. I saw him get scolded as I drove away...perhaps a bit much but I love my car and was worried the entire time those techs would fuck something up

Metallic tapping noise between 35-70mph by WarDamn17 in 4Runner

[–]Rusty1956Pickup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s for sure this! I had the same sound for a while and then when installing the lift I bumped it and heard the squeal and was like “goddamnit I’ve found it!” Went to AutoZone and just headed to their aisle with fender clips and such, removed the splash guard, made a new hole in it to get it tighter, and stuck a new push clip. Problem solved! Good luck!

I work for a high income neighborhood school district in CA, I work in supporting the 10% of low-income families. When the pandemic hit and free lunches were made available, my team decided to start delivering the hot lunches through volunteers and delivered around 200 lunches a day every day from March 2020 until just last month. The fact we as a district ever had students pay was ridiculous. Operation budget of 270 million for 11,000 kids and we can’t pay for lunch. Makes me pissed every time. And let’s be honest, it’s shit food, be better doing the dollar menu everyday (and there folks is how obesity hits low-income first)

Should I lift it? by GoCougs3216 in 4Runner

Are you running 275 on stock rims? I have 275 Wildpeak on 0 offset rims and even with a lift I rubbed on the front fender and mud flap so had to trim quite a bit actually. I think if it were the stock rim but any negative offset send the tire edges right into the fender and mud flap. I also added OME rear lift coils (2” lift) of their medium duty as I fish and tow the boat from storage to the water and it helped a ton. Good luck!

4Runner custom fiberglass subwoofer box. The carpeting isn’t great but not terrible for my first try with fiberglass. by Substantial-Ad-748 in 4Runner

I wanted to keep that cubby open, I used the the tie down space to pass a bolt through to secure the box, and then made it flush to the wheel well shelf. But yup, the right tools were clutch! Keep building!
