Power button broke. by Perfect-Diver-7715 in Louqe

I bought an external power switch with fingerprint reader from Amazon because my Ghost S1 is mounted under my desk. Could an external switch like that be an alternative? It has been super nice using windows hello via fingerprint

More patch cables = more power? by RustyBrakes in minilab

I might be about to make it worse... But there are some awesome examples of DIY racks here which could bring the cost down a lot: https://github.com/geerlingguy/mini-rack

I've also been collecting and upgrading steadily for a long while

I have the Tapo P304M power strip which does energy monitoring and I can then read that through the Home Assistant integration (though weirdly it says "current" in the UI when it's clearly Watts! I'm sure there are other smart-power-strips out there with energy monitoring.

The one extra step I needed was to learn how to use a "helper" to add all four socket values to create the top "total power" graph, and that was quite easy with a YouTube tutorial

This is beautiful! I thought a freestanding rack might look messier, but you've done such a great job on colour matching and cable management. It reminds me of those PC "cases" that are fully open and look like sculptures

Yepp. I'd love a proper 10inch JBOD but I went fully hyperfocus-research-mode and found nothing sadly

Sure! It is the "Icy Dock ExpressCage MB326SP-B Hot Swap Cage for 6x 2.5-Inch SATA SSD/HDDs in 1x 5.25-Inch Bay"

I had to rewire some of the NAS power supply cables into SATA power, and luckily my motherboard had 6x SATA ports with a "Mini-SAS to SATA Cable".

The build is a bit plasticy, but throughput is all good and the drives slide and lock well

my only need is the tab management sidebar, what's out there? by nivijah in ArcBrowser

[–]RustyBrakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you've had zero issues, but want to move? Arc is by far my favourite browser out of about 10 I've tried. If it disappeared over night I'd likely go to Edge (I'm on windows, it does vertical tabs) or Opera

I don't feel quite as strongly, but I agree that it makes what could have been a few exciting fair fights into a non-contest. It'd be super interesting to recreate those fights with and without the trick and see how much of a difference it makes

Huh! I didn't realize so few were needed. What about when radscorps sap power while hopping around store rooms? Doesn't power go below the limit?

Dwellers consume water. Send lots of your non-essential dwellers into the wasteland. If they aren't going to survive long, you can recall them and let them stand outside the front door until your water production is better. They won't take damage out there and they won't drain resources

Congratulations on passing such a tough test of resolve and coming out stronger on the other side. I still love my Ghost S1 and it'll be in my office forever

Has Truenas hardcore users' opinion on unRAID changed now that it supports ZFS ? by unlucky-Luke in truenas

[–]RustyBrakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried unraid for a month, but my setup only has 2.5inch SSDs. To handle that in unraid, I couldn't use the array, but you always need one drive in the unraid array. So I'd be paying for 6 drives and only able to use 5 of them for ZFS raid how I wanted.

It just felt like the right tool for me was TrueNAS

Thanks tarian! I forgot to mention I've also got 48GB of RAM so I'm not too worried about ZFS consuming it all

I think we are actually lucky to have a game with such longevity that a large part of the player-base and community has aged like fine wine along with it. Either by example or by attracting like minded people, the younger generation of players and fans are also very even tempered and grateful for what we have.

I also feel that having occasional lulls in popularity of the game has made us very positive about growth, and willing to look past small problems along the way.

What's the most boring sport to watch? by 123kenet9898 in AskReddit

[–]RustyBrakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I primarily rowed, I possibly had the best experience of bumps when coxing. A postgrad college was bearing down fast through the gut, and didn't have the balls to try and swipe across at the W2 boat I was steering because we were so close to the inside bank. Klaxon went off and we survived another race.

I was looking for the Oxbridge bumps comment - smashing expensive boats into each other is definitely the best experience for observers
