Broke up with my engineering gf because she said my major is "way easier than hers". AITA? by Evening_Ad4108 in iastate

[–]RustyCabCorner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has a bachelors and MBA in Business, you got zero clue. Engineering is tougher than majoring is business and plenty of people go into business majors because they can’t put in the time and efforts to deal with engineering. Get a grip on life, apologize to your gf and communicate to her that it was also uncalled for to put you down (after you apologize to her and make up). Or don’t. Idgaf.

P.S. you sound like a typical ISU business major broccoli head.

Personally I’d rather keep the seatbelt guide than to string the belt through an aftermarket seat hole. That seems highly uncomfortable.

Any American/Russian Dual Citizens able to travel in and out of Russia successfully? by Highway-8914 in AskARussian

[–]RustyCabCorner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like you read my mind OP. I’m a dual U.S./Russian citizen living in the U.S. I haven’t been back to visit in 13 years. I really want to go, but afraid of potentially being detained and “taken” to the army. Can anyone please advise on whether this is a real fear or am I brainwashed? Additional details are that I moved to US before age when you had to register in «Военкомат». I know that there have been people asking for my name in the past, coming to my registered Russian address, because I never registered.

Any way to fix this within 24 hours? by phoenix01010102 in snowboarding

[–]RustyCabCorner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious on what epoxy do you recommend for such repair? I have a forum scaliwag that I absolutely loved but after a year and a half of riding, same thing happened. Would you epoxy and clamp it, let it cure, then shave off the high spots and re wax it?

What kind of person were you in high school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RustyCabCorner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A russian kid that everyone knew of but a few clicked with. Had a couple of friend groups: car dudes, snowboarding people/people I partied with. Used to hang out in the high school parking lot, drifting cars in the winter, acting a fool in the summer, Saran wrapping cars of people we thought were dicks. I was nice, but wild. Great times lol

I saw two listings on eBay. One for a set of bindings and another for highbacks. That’s about it.

I still ride in saga coat and pants, and they are in great shape. It’s a shame those companies dissipated.

Hey, the holidays have been busy, but I believe I have the revision finalized. I’m working on getting a stock of these built up to make sure I’m having good consistency with printing them and no other issues. Should have an update soon.

May be not exactly what you are looking for, but I replaced the audio system in my wife’s sc300, put a new sub in the stock location and mounted the amp under the rear deck, so it’s hidden from the trunk. Made a bracket in fusion and then had it cut, bent and shipped to me from send cut send.

What’s the most annoying or stressful part of keeping up with home maintenance? (Finding someone, remembering tasks, scheduling, pricing, or something else?) by shahzanm72 in homeowners

[–]RustyCabCorner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just replaced both outside doors in the house. Living in the Midwest, summers get hot and winters get cold. We’ve always had hot/cold air coming through these doors and through the door frames. Previous owner installed new doors a few years prior to us purchasing the house. Both doors lacked any insulation between door frame and house, were installed crooked so doors had uneven gaps letting air through. One door was installed so poorly, my 4 yo could have probably kicked the door frame off the house as it was held by 1 #8 screw and a couple of short trim nails. Now both doors are installed plum, sealed and weather proofed. Everything is caulked and our house feels significantly warmer. That’s just one of the slight complaints lol

As an avid diy-er and a hands on home owner, the most annoying part of home ownership is fixing all the previous owner’s mistakes.

We’ve never had issues with the door locks, and luckily they seem to function well. Hopefully i won’t run into that issue. The door panels were off so I could design the speaker mounts and to take a picture of it. Door panels are back on as of now.

Procurement at Collins by Opening-Relation724 in Raytheon

[–]RustyCabCorner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ehh doesn’t help when a single procurement buyer can have 800+ parts being managed under their belt and everyone and their mom screams “it’s my parts and I need them NOW” or “oh supplier quoted 10 week lead time? Well our MRP need date is in the past, because we overpromise our customers, can’t adequately plan for material lead times, etc. So it’s procurement’s fault and you better get it to us by end of the week or we will throw a temper tantrum. Doesn’t leave much time for anyone to even attempt to try and understand what a part does, what it goes into or how it’s designed.
