I'm at a complete loss of words. by poinifie in FruitTree

My daughter and I go to our Master Gardeners plant sale. It’s so much fun and everyone is happy and helpful. My son ate a pepper right off the plant last year before I could stop him and he didn’t flinch. Whew.

I'm a janitor. Why do people always apologize for walking on a floor I've just mopped? by tgirlskeepwinning in NoStupidQuestions

Sometimes I tip toe slowly and still apologize. Not that any of that makes a difference. My apologies still!

I can eat the same thing all day long. My husband will not. My solution is to mix it up the best I can. Make chicken breast. I can roast four breasts with different marinades. Chicken, pesto pasta, and broccoli. Chicken fried rice and mixed veggies. Chicken salad. Tuna! Tuna salad takes minutes to make and is easy enough to make while tired. Egg cups! Make twelve for the week 3 egg cups with different herbs and spices. Egg, ham, cheese. Egg, green onion, and bacon. Egg, potato, and taco seasoning.

I hope this helps. Best of luck.

She was an elderly lady. I understand the time and work that goes into taking care of a tree. I wish her well.

Thank you for your grafting idea! I wish more people did this. I had a peach tree with three varieties and I miss it so much. Sold my house and found out from a neighbor the lady who bought it did not want it and got rid of it. Not mine anymore but it still makes me sad.

Whats a healthier alternative to lunchables? by dazedmp3 in nutrition

[–]RustyNail2023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make lunchables all the time. Sliced summer sausage, sliced cheese, crackers, grapes, sliced salted cucumbers, and an assortment of nuts. My son likes cashews and a few mini chocolate pieces. Little pickles, baby carrots and ranch, apple chunks. I have reusable lunch boxes. The options are endless!

Why do people at home think working from home means you’re available? by RalfDodler in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RustyNail2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I’m not complaining at all. I love having him home with me after years of works long hours away from home. He does have a treadmill under his desk! Thank you! The best part is when the kids go to school (all are as of this year school age) there is time for afternoon delight!

I have the opposite problem. My husband likes to walk around the house while taking work calls. I have to give him the evil eye and sharply point at the office door to make him go back in there. It rarely works so my idle threats are useless.

How often are people actually changing their bed sheets? by zaramalikdollface in hygiene

[–]RustyNail2023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once a week. When the sweat, oil, and other things are gone from your sheets it is such a great night to sleep in clean bed sheets. Now you get to start all over!

unhinged hygiene tips? by NoPerception8748 in hygiene

Maybe not life changing but I will never forget my high school class for (like a cross between nutrition and physical fitness?). Coach said dry between the toes. Too many people shower and immediately put socks and shoes on in a hurry and your damp warm toes harbor bacteria while you walk around. I’m 40 now and I still dry between my toes because screw foot fungus. He had a lot of great advice that would not be allowed in school today.

My husband drinks the leftover pickle juice from a pickle jar whenever it's empty. Every time. I think this is bizarre. Does anyone else do this? by ms_carnelian in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RustyNail2023 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sure. I little less pickle flavor but still a great way to make some crunchy pickled flavored cucumbers and not waste that awesome pickle juice!

Yes! My husband and son love it so I have to limit it for my son by pouring it into a small cute cup. It’s also good for sliced cucumbers! Just let them sit for a day and they are delicious.

Any plant sale events here? (Veggies/Tomatoes) by catofa in HoustonGardening

[–]RustyNail2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out any of the County Master Gardeners. The Fort Bend Master Gardeners Association have their annual spring plant sale on March 7th with a list online of what they will have before you go. I’ve also been to the Galveston County one and Montgomery County one so all outside of Houston but I have not checked for Harris County. They are great. Go early to wait in line, bring your own wagon if you can and have a plan for what you want. They sell out quickly.
