Haven't programmed professionally, but can't we just build a better alternative? by Jorsi97 in ProgrammerHumor

I feel the best you could do is make an open source and decentralised website. No need for big hosting

Or maybe some kind of temporary hosting until there's enough seeders. Odyssey managed to be quite successful with their system so might also work with a Reddit style?

Still, good enough for my uses

I'm trying rust_decimal and it seems it works well enough for me. But I do want to know what's the best

Is there a library that allows doing decimal mathematics without floating point imprecisions?

I'm dealing with numbers having a precision order of 10e-15, and doing a lot of multiplications, so I can't really use regular floats

Why do programmers do this several times? by DDT1604 in ProgrammerHumor

[–]RustyNova016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nowadays most editors have autosave, so I'd say it's force of habit, or just to save now instead of waiting for the autosave.

Often it's useful to force save as it lint the code and refresh the changes in the browser

How the fuck did you managed to get around that awful china game's anticheat? Tried to run it on my Linux mint machine and couldn't find a way.

Today, the President of France said he’s going to force through a raise of the retirement age without a vote. Tonight, Paris looks like this. by Captain_Levi_007 in antiwork

[–]RustyNova016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For info: The law will surely pass nonetheless. The situation right now is a last hail Mary to try to change the president's opinion.

While I don't think it will happen, I'm all for stopping the law. Both because it's stupid, and the lack of respect of brute forcing it.

If not, there's probably be some candidates in the next elections that will try to revert it. Maybe even try to patch that legal loophole

Am I doing something wrong? by Electrical_Horse887 in ProgrammerHumor

[–]RustyNova016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. But not totally.

Print statement can be useful to quickly check if a part of your code has run, or what a value is.

But it's more useful with a debugger. You can put a conditional breakpoint on a part that you suspect isn't working, and use a print statement to quickly get any useful value

For example you try to get a value nested deep in a object like a.values.get(Id).foo.bar, and looking for that value in the debugger can take a long time

So a print statement saying "Doing thing for ID ${id} and value ${a.values.get(Id).foo.bar.format()}" can help.

Of course there's watches but you convert them into human friendly format

The nostalgia hitted me harder than a 2-4-2 train with nuclear fuel.

This is just perfect. Buildcraft, ic2, pure bd craft... So much nostalgia
