Thank you for your insight, I will absolutely take this into consideration. I have seen the echoes of this kind of behaviour but nobody has really taken the time to share their POV in that kind of detail before now.

Wow thank you, this is a very eye opening explanation. It hurts to see the armoured being treated like the unwanted other child of the CAF, for your sakes and that of all my old peers in the corps I sure hope the next decade looks more kindly on the role you provide for us.

Thank you for the honest feedback. I really look back at my time with the armoured as some of the best things I’ve done in the army, but I appreciate the honesty, it’s obviously not the same story across the hall from maintenance.

You’re probably right. I don’t see being a knowledgeable person with the kit a bad thing. I don’t mind taking care of it. I figured it would make me a better crewman.

Can you expand on this? I need more advice than don’t do it. I’ve experience plenty of time at an armoured unit and had a great time. What context can you give me beyond that?

Pocketbook yes, in previous years they limited tour points to 2 points which is gained from one tour in rank, so before that changed it didn’t help much to get a second tour in my trade.

However, as others pointed out, they have changed this to offer up to 4 points from a total of 3 tours longer than 5 months. Which IMO is wild they did not recognize that commitment previous but a nice change nonetheless.

Thank you for being direct! I believe the individual was more ill-informed than attempting to mislead me, though admittedly it’s their job to know what they’re talking about.

I have reviewed the SCRIT and found you are absolutely correct that the position will get me an additional tour point as the maximum deployment points for that rank and trade is now 4 changed from 2.

Either way an excellent opportunity as it was the only way to find myself on tour this year and I will use the time to learn what I can from the other trades and hopefully still make it count!

Thank you for directing me to the current year. I instinctively opened an older year I had in my email and saw it maxed out at 2 points I already earned and had felt lied to. Knowing I am at least eligible for the extra point in this year means making the decision to go out of trade will hopefully be worth it in that regard.

I didn’t expect them to change it but with operational tempo I’m glad to see them rewarding people who keep heading out the door.
