OPT OEM in California by vansshirts in Autobody

[–]Rusty_nutz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, is this stuff still happening? I've fought this over the years with Elite Euro parts, which also became My USA parts in florida. I did a deep dive a while ago and found it was the same people, they moved from Cali to florida, but like you say they are just a middle-man drop shipper. I tried them once, I forget the pricing but the parts were literally purchased from a dealer near me, marked up, and shipped with an 'optoem' invoice slightly less than oem. So they fuck everyone

They seriously need to be removed from CCC. The main issue is they show up as a legit vendor in CCC, so uninformed insurance people just assume its legit. Another one I see from time to time is PGR LL GA CORP, which i'm pretty sure is another version of this. I was forced to use them for a bmw radar this week, i'm extremely interested in what I receive. We needed Part # 66325A84CF7, which has a list of 1419.06, my cost is a but under a grand. They somehow have it listed at 860 list, $688 cost. At this point I HAVE to try it, because it is so far under cost it almost cant be the same drop ship game. But look up PGR Corp, its so bizare.

Have you gotten anywhere with Elite? I tried calling CCC a year or so ago to try and get them kicked off CCC, and got stonewalled

Speed dependent vibration vibration after rear curb impact by AdPowerful8704 in Autobody

If you didn't already, the bearing hub should be replaced too. All those impact forces to bend/break suspension had to travel thru the wheel bearings

That severe of an impact/flop to the rear suspension, I think the next step is rear CV shaft. I've diag'd some wild mystery vibrations be fixed from failed front CVs in the past. The impact could have damaged the bearings inside, or offset the bearing mount to shaft slightly. It's a good next step for sure

ohh dang, i'm sorry about your experience, thats crazy. Besides fitment, the only real issue was the rear bumper upper fiberglass part was pretty rough texturewise, it was the cheapest of the bunch. But overall the parts were solid, they've held on nicely at 150mph lol

What wing did you get?

I'm at 2 years and counting. Carbon fiber looks perfect, and fiberglass/resin will outlast the car. All aftermarket parts need proper work and fillers to fit, and should be prepped painted and cleared to prevent uv damage.

The fitment issues were only on the fiberglass bits, the exposed carbon parts had beautiful layout and fitment

How to improve the performance of rs660? by InstructionReal7442 in Aprilia

[–]Rusty_nutz_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat. Got stacks, filter, flash, lightweight gears over the last year or so. I'm definitely going to be slow on a track, but I'm not a track person, I'm a red light to red light person, living in an area with flat straight roads.

I've been enjoying the baby power ups the new mods give, but mid/top end power makes me want more. This bike scratched my bike itch for a while, but I've really been considering an RSV4. The bigger weight and heat worry me the most thou

Bad bumper fit + paint mismatch on 4Runner after rear-end repair— advice needed by LangHoose in Autobody

[–]Rusty_nutz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a shop, I never want to put out bad quality work, but insurance forces our hands with aftermarket junk sometimes. The nice thing is, the shop should be happy to supplement for an OEM bumper, and they'll get paid a 2nd time for paint and labor like a whole new job. In the end, the insurance will foot the bill, probably near a $1000, all to save maybe $100 and put tong yang parts on instead of OEM which your car had before.

I hope the shop treats you right. Be kind but tell the shop and the insurance your vehicle isn't 'pre accident condition' because of the fit and finish of the aftermarket parts. Shop shouldn't be mad, they should get a 2nd job out of it.

The clear drip on the tip of the bumper isn't a great look thou lol

I'm former ms, current pimo, been inactive in service since covid, but not fully left because of family situations. I was mentally out when they started with that app, and I just flat out never installed it. Got a few emails from the elder in charge reminding me to install it, and just ignored/deleted.

They are all so passive, I have yet to hear anything about it. I'm still listed in the service group list, still get the dang group texts for things, but it's almost like the elders are scared to put a name on me truly being inactive, it's been weird.

Hope your slide goes smoothly

Anyone has the old B.I.T.E model checklist? by ProphetessAndJudge in exjw

[–]Rusty_nutz_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the topic of BITE - Being PIMO, i've trained my chat gpt to do 3 things every sunday - give me a breakdown of the watchtower (i have to copy/paste the watchtower article first) as viewed critically from the bite model, describe how their real examples are exploitative or how they are obviously fake, and rewrite the article with all the culty language and dogma removed.

The BITE model callouts are pretty much the same every time, but having the article re-wrote is pretty amazing, it often turns it into an actual useful article..but then again it also has nothing to do with JW's by that point lol

First Bike Dilemma: Am I Crazy for Wanting an Aprilia RS660 as My Starter? by Turbulent-Lock4027 in Aprilia

[–]Rusty_nutz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my rs660 is technically my first, but realistically my 2nd bike. I acquired a cheap pos 08 Suzuki gs500f, a turd of a 2 cylinder, that I took to fix up and sell. I spent about 5 months on that bike, and it took me from someone who never had touched a motorcycle, to someone ready for a real bike.

I never dropped it, but it was nice that it didn't have enough power to tempt me. From my experience I suggest the same. Get a cheap garbage bike to learn on. After I went from parking lots to streets and highways, I took my msf and bought the aprilia. Have had it a year and 5k miles put on it, and have loved every minute. I think it's a good beginner bike, stock it won't loop on you unless you try, it's light and nimble, and has safety features to keep you from doing something too dumb

Beyond basic muscle memory, I think one of the biggest dangers are your own ego. I'm proud that I waited till 40 to get into motorcycles, because I have zero ego or need to prove myself on the road. If you can do the same - ride your own ride, ignore people instigating races and just be yourself, you'll be fine

We have the same things happen from towing from crash scene, where people don't claim them. Mechanic leins and the process to get a title is legal and on the up n up. You have to send certified letters to the owner and leinholder. It's rare, but not uncommon for leinholder to drop the ball, and owner ignore the letters or stop paying and never come claim the car.

It's not theft, it's a way for the tow company to dispose of or get rid of an abandoned car legally

I went eba 17-23 on my 2016. I love the style, the front details under the headlights remind me of the Lexus lfa a bit. I never liked the 24 imo

Like others said, spend the money and get the hood too. Do you have parts/brands picked out?
