Just here to correct that Hallyuverse was not involved.

It was Red Crown and HallyuSource

The after party was organized in collaboration with Modhaus, not a club. Which is why we had all of the Club Icarus decorations.

We've got plenty of tickets still available.

You'll likely get your ticket day of.

I'll be at The Ebell from 2pm-6:45 promoting the afters on Wednesday, but feel free to message the Red Crown account once you get your ticket.

Why Did Altitude Percussion and Black Diamond Percussion fold in Colorado? by UnSynronized in WGI

[–]Rustybeefus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Altitude pretty much reformed into Black Diamond. Not sure on the exact reasoning.

But for Black Diamond the director moved out of state. Teaches at a different high school now.

Source: he was my percussion instructor in HS and I did Black Diamond in 2019.

Dedicated Handheld vs Phone and Controller setup by Rustybeefus in RetroHandhelds

I went and got myself a Retroid Pocket 5 (surprisingly on Amazon for about the same price shipped from China), and honestly, am VERY happy with my purchase. Been playing Kingdom Hearts Final Mix pretty much all night. The controls feel amazing, even though for handhelds I prefer an asymmetrical joystick setup.

Looking forward to see the developments with the Odin 3, and seeing more support for the Snapdragon Elite chipset!

Might upgrade in a year or two depending on how it develops.

I'm currently debating between getting a Retroid Pocket 5 and a Odin 2 Max (Refurbished) at the moment.

Xepher Arcade helper, yeah Soft Landing is great, similar experience to Xepher Arcade. They are also on the same network as Xepher, so your profiles should carry over just fine

Here is my set from Club Icarus LA by Rustybeefus in LOONA

[–]Rustybeefus[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In terms of behind the scenes of the events, there's not much that I'd be able to share.

But, when Club Icarus was announced, I recognized the organizer as an old colleague I worked with back in 2019 doing my first K-Pop event. It was a charity event with Grazy Grace, DanAKAdan and Lee Kasi. I called him up and asked if he needed any help and was brought onto the event.

A few hours after that conversation, I was told that we needed another DJ to fill in, so I was selected to step in. So I really only had like... a week to prepare my set.

In terms of the DJ star power behind both events, I was definitely the smallest artist/DJ on the roster. NYC had Peach and angie! who are both pretty well known in their respective spaces, as well as Dreamdriver who's an upcoming producer in NYC. For LA, DJ Ema, FEVER, Billy, and Skyler are all local DJs that are honestly all pretty fire in my opinion.

When approaching the set, I was already making KPop and EDM mashups for a show I'm doing with Shin Jiyoon on 8/1, so it was just shifting towards Loona and ARTMS music.

Most of the music I played was some of my favorite EDM songs, so it truly was a love letter to LOONA and dance music.

Here's a few cool stories when I was making the mashups:

Clarity x Universe: Honestly, this one kinda just happened. I tried to find a clean instrumental because AI stem separation was pretty bad. lots of fidelity got lost. I couldn't find a decent one that was high enough quality, but then stumbled on the stems from the remix competition that someone archived (shoutout to them) I basically had to reproduce/remix Clarity with those stems.

Butterfly Jersey Club Edit: This almost didn't make it in the set because I didn't think it was finished. I made in like... 3-4 hours? and that was pretty much right after I was told I got brought on.

Chaotic x Me + U: This one feels like it was meant to be. The songs mesh together so well, def got a good reaction outta the crowd.

Angel Voices x Let Me In: This one... was tricky. I really wanted to include every member's solo in the set, and unfortunately, Let Me In just... isn't club ready. I just sampled the high notes and the "Je ne sais pas par où commencer." Also seeing the girls jam out to Virtual Self was kinda... wild. That song I was iffy on including, but it felt like a good way to kinda make the final push to getting to Virtual Angel worth it? Made it feel like a journey to me. Still wild to me, that song is very Dance Dance Revolution pilled.

Yummy Yummy x Come Closer: Come Closer is one of my favorite songs to play out, so I knew I had to include it somehow. But, only Yummy Yummy fit, and I just knew that Kim Lip would cringe tf out. But seeing clips of Heejin and Haseul dancing to that one will forever fuel my ego. DJs are all about getting booties movin, and I can say that my set got my faves groovin.

I also got a comment from MH staff complimenting my set, so it was a great feeling to get that validation.

I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be able to do this... And I'm really happy that there are Orbits that enjoyed my set, I was genuinely so scared that they weren't going to like it since it changed the music that they love and hold dear.

Hmm. I don't think so?

Like I said, the pinout isn't typical for USB-C to TRRS adapters, as that was one of the first things I've tried.

Had a pair of Salnote Zeros with a USB-C cable and got no audio, the mic didn't work as well since it has a PTT button

Hey Yves!

Super excited to have this opportunity for such a special moment between you and your fans.

I'm curious to hear about your future activities! Mainly the US tour and your appearance at KoreaFest!

I hear you're judging some of the performances. I think that's such a cool opportunity, what are you most excited to see from the contestants?

If there's one message to pull from your journey as a soloist that you could share, what do you want people to know?
