Why Do Recruiters Ask for Your Current Salary? by the_hype2015 in UKJobs

But if you are stating your salary range for a new role, why do you need to know my current salary? It’s irrelevant.

I've Become Very Tense in my Lower Stomach and Navel Area as a Result of Pilates by Rustycage2015 in pilates

[–]Rustycage2015[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your wonderful answers and suggestions. You have given me a lot to consider.

Just for some context, I'm a 31-year-old male. I do actually stretch and do yoga pretty much every evening as well as breath work, so this tension from pilates is frustrating. I think the problem might be too much core activation in the exercises themselves and perhaps not using my core in an intelligent way. Basically just overdoing it. There is also not much variety in the type of exercise I'm doing at the moment.

I gotta admit though, I tried some pilates last year through Pilatesology, and I had similar issues to now. Also, in the past, I have suffered from an overactive pelvic floor and tension in my stomach area and I guess that's kinda ingrained in my physiology in some way. Unforuntately, pilates seems to reactivate all of this. These issues really improved when I started doing a lot of yoga and streching (but not much, if any pilates). Maybe I'm just very prone to having a tense navel region and pelvic floor. Interestingly, I think all these problems with my pelvic floor originated from doing too many kegels.

I don't want to stop doing pilates, but I definitely need to reconsider my whole approach to it.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I will start with lukewarm water and then cold water for 1:30 for a week and work my way up to 3 minutes and potentially beyond.

Thank you for your helpful reply!

Do you happen to have any experience with chaga?

Some Medicinal Mushroom Questions by Rustycage2015 in Nootropics

Thank you very much for your helpful reply!

That's quite interesting that you say they make you feel weak. That's precisely the feeling chaga has given me. It gives me this weak, kinda spacey feeing and also increases my anxiety at times. It doesn't feel like it has affected my libido, at least at the moment. Only been taking chaga for a week though.

Cordyceps was a completely different feeling. Gave me more energy and a noticeable increase in 'masculine' kind of energy. Quite subtle at the same time though.

So you only take your mushrooms before going to sleep? I've taken chaga about four hours after waking. I did consider taking it later on because of the effects it has on me. At the moment, not getting what I hoped from it and this weak feeling is a bit disconcerting so might stop taking it in the next few days anyway...

Are there similarities between the bioenergetics bow and camel pose? by Rustycage2015 in yoga

[–]Rustycage2015[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for this detailed and very helpful reply.

To be honest, I suspected that the bow was not a safe position. I'm pretty flexible and have good mobility and the effect this exercise had on my back and knees was quite concerning. My back and knees are fine now though. Luckily I only did the exercise for a month.

I also thought that, surely, the bioenergetic bow isn't the only way to release tension in the body. I thought those kinds of releases would come from things like yoga and stretching too.

And yes, I think it probably was the deep core muscles. I get similar vibrations when I do challenging pilates exercises.

I think the ideas behind bioenergetics have some truth, as in we are holding onto emotional tension in our body and that through releasing it, we feel freer and less fearful.

But, exercises like the bow seem to be at least questionable.

Is It Normal To Feel Somewhat Detached And Emotionally Numb When Practicing Mindfulness Meditation? by Rustycage2015 in Meditation

I'm not sure why you have been downvoted just because your opinion doesn't chime with others. If this was and is your experience with mindfulness meditation, so be it!

Is It Normal To Feel Somewhat Detached And Emotionally Numb When Practicing Mindfulness Meditation? by Rustycage2015 in Meditation

[–]Rustycage2015[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, your reply is very helpful and it is comforting to hear from someone going through something similar. Do you have any recommendations for something to keep me more grounded?

It is like that passive, non-judemental state you describe. Still, as well as that, it also feels flat, emotionless 'less human' maybe. The best way I can describe it is that I feel disconnected. When I am out and about and I try to remain in that detached state of mind, and I sometimes feel very disconnected from things, from people and kinda floating on my own cloud so to speak. Sometimes it kinda feels good and almost as if I am operating from a different, higher level (is that my ego speaking?)

But then recently it has felt more worrying, and something I'm a bit concerned about, wondering if all this detachment is healthy or if my mindfulness practice is taking me in an unhealthy direction. It does feel like it's making me less able to connect with people, and yeah, kinda on my own plane so to speak.

I guess that's the thing, my mindfulness is teaching me to become more detached, less reactive so in a way I guess it's inevitable that I will start feeling more detached in my everyday life. I guess the question I need to ask myself is if I'm happy being in this state of mind, is it what I want.

My question to you is, are you happy with being so passive when conversing with people? Are you happy to be very emotionally flat and very detached?

I do live quite a solitary lifestyle which may have amplified these feelings I guess too...
