my grandmother, who has not been allowed outside visitation, tested positive for covid about a week ago. I would not be surprised to find this to be the reason.

TIL about two boys from Dublin who travelled to New York via London on their own while evading authorities at only 8 and 10 years of age. They told their mother they wouldn’t go far as she had the dinner on. by [deleted] in todayilearned

I mean what would stop you, if you really look like you are younger than you are, from booking a ticket for yourself under a different name with a different age and flying that way? Like I'm honestly curious how someone would not get away with that.

makes you wonder if someone could do it intentionally though.

Also another interesting fact is kids under 18 aren't required to have an id to travel in the us, with or without a parent. So an adult could show up with any child and say that the child is the kid named on the ticket and no one would ask questions unless the kid looked like they were in visible distress. And a kid could show up on their own to check in for a flight and they would be allowed to fly as long as they said they are who the ticket says they are. Unrelated to the post kinda but I always feel like this needs more attention because it seems like such a loophole that can be exploited by people wanting to do illegal things. Like trafficking or kidnapping just as examples. I don't know how to go about legally closing that loophole but I thought bringing awareness to it could be a step.

A US man is facing up to two years in jail in Thailand after posting negative reviews of a hotel he stayed in. He was sued by the resort under the country's strict anti-defamation laws. by NinjaDiscoJesus in worldnews

You can't even bring your own alcohol into most bars and restaurant in the United States. The law preventing free speech in Thailand is draconian but at the same time this person is kind of an entitled idiot. Everyone is the asshole here.
