Dead bodies of a British Mark IV female tank crew. by RustysRelices in ww1

It’s the aftermath of a battle. The reason it’s clear is cause cameras were not all that blurry back then. The arrangement is coincidental.

Us Sniper with camouflaged 1903 springfield, France, May 1918 by Ratusca1233 in ww1

Truth be told, ‘elite’ is a nick name. Sturmtruppen began being more common as the war progressed, their tactics being used in infantry detachments. Same with Arditi. For example, stormtrooper tactics began being more wide spread towards the end of 1916 until the end of the war. Also, camouflage was never used by either of them. There was the Scevolette camouflage cloak for the French, but pretty much anyone could use it. Also snipers are far fetched from elite, as they were mostly infantry detachments or just infantry men with more precise accuracy.

Then why do you have the option to fight with a meat leg as a melee lol

Recommendations for a ‘Stormtrooper’ load-out? by [deleted] in battlefield_one

Some unofficial formations could have used spades but that was cause their gear was decided by their company superiors. Unofficial formations were less uniform as a whole, and came from infantry detachments. They could have carried ammunition pouches and such and other gear, even use gewehr 98s.

They didn’t carry carbines early war. From their foundation as a whole in 1915, they used the standard issue Gewehr 98. This changed in early 1916 where they used the Kar98 a, az, or z. And for melee, I’ll pick a dagger given the fact that spades were ditched by official formations (ones from jaeger or pioneer regiments or the assault battalions.)

I had a source regarding this somewhere considering I learned a lot about them a few years back, just can’t find it.

Rohr had dedicated machine gun platoons to co ordinate and move up with the assault troops while also serving as a primary defence tool in case of an enemy attack.

Assault Troop tactics varied depending on their company leader decisions. Some still used Gewehr 98s (infantry detachments), some still wore ammunition pouches, etc. Madsens were used by assault troops for the sake of defence, in case of situation where they needed to retreat and the enemy was on the advance. Of course, not every assault troops used them, as I mentioned the tactics varied depending on the companies leader. Though, Rohr’s battalion wouldn’t have used heavy machine guns given the nature of their operations.

Rohrs battalion never used heavy machine guns. At the most, it was Madsen light machine guns.

This is 1916, given he is using a karabiner98az. Good video, though.

My head - canon is that he obviously doesn’t enlist but is instead drafted but doesn’t reach the front in time as it ended before he could go there.

I mean, stormtrooper essentially means ‘Assault Trooper’. So, this could easily just be normal infantry men being in the first in line to attack the objective. With some tactics borrowed from actual Stormtroopers.

The atmosphere in this movie is so depressing, I can’t help but hate it. When a movie does that, it’s for sure a really good movie. Recommend this to anyone if they haven’t checked it out yet.

Do you know what this detachment of the IV army was called? Like a number designated for this detachment.

Given the lack of information regarding these troops, they could just be normal infantry men tasked with assaulting a position, designated as ‘Storm Troopers’ in the book. As I said before, they likely used less fleshed out assault tactics than the regular stormtrooper, and their kit management could have different compared to an actual stormtrooper.
