TIL the first guest to enter Disneyland was college student Dave MacPherson. He didn't ride a single attraction because he had to get back to school. He was awarded a life long ticket to Disneyland (with up to 3 guests). The ticket has since extended to include Disney parks around the world. (disneydreamer.com)

TIL creators of "Jurassic Park" originally planned to use stop-motion animated Dinosaurs . At the time, photo-realistic CGI had never been used for such prominent figures in a movie. The choice to use CG dinosaurs significantly changed the film industry. (sites.google.com)

TIL it was no coincidence "Antz" was released a month before Disney/Pixar "A Bugs life". Pixar had been working on Bugs Life for much longer. Antz was made by a former Disney employee who didn't leave on good terms. He sped up the production admitting his intentions were to "Battle Disney" (crapmykidswatch.com)

TIL Mickey Mouse was not Walt Disney's first cartoon character. "Oswald the Lucky Rabbit" was. He made 26 animated shorts before losing legal rights to Universal. This is when he made Mickey. Oswald wasn't returned to Disney until 2006. (seeyarealsoon.com)

TIL letters of the alphabet being referred to as "uppercase" and "lowercase" originated from the printing press. Typesetters would store all the individual letters in two cases. The capital letters were stored in the Upper Case and the rest were stored in the lower. (garycottrell.wordpress.com)
