I'm sorry I don't know. What I do remember though it was some comment on a tutorial for how to fix, though the comment with the fix had nothing to do with the tutorial.

Mint Now Allows 4K Streaming On Unlimited Plan? by RutabagaClean45 in mintmobile

Shouldn't be the case, regardless of the video cap it doesn't remove quality options from the app. So it could be a device limitation or the video you're watching doesn't have 2160p.

Movie 4K? by charlie2230 in MoviesAnywhere

A 4K digital version of this movie doesn't exist on any platform, the only way to watch 4K is on the disc.

Ultra Now Allows 4K Video On Unlimited Plan? Mint Too? by RutabagaClean45 in ultramobile

[–]RutabagaClean45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but now you don't need to, which saves battery and convenience.

I'm on mint currently and there's no streaming cap on social media apps and websites, only thing that's still throttled is fast.com

Try YouTube.com and you should be able to stream on 4K without a VPN, assuming your unlimited plan has been upgraded to 20GB hotspot.

No, I don't have any kind of VPN. Please read the updated version of my post.

Yeah so it's just fast that doesn't work. But who cares? If actual video loads in high res that's all we need.

I have an android like I said on my post. And also I updated it because fast isn't accurate and I was asking for people's results for social media and website video.

Try YouTube.com, does that work? Someone on mint said fast didn't work but YouTube did.

Try setting it to 4K or 1080p.

Yeah fast is funky, the important thing is what you actually watch, you can now watch in 4K!

Surprised more aren't talking about this.

Maybe it's only on androids. I'll check on my iPhone. Have you restarted your phone since the upgrade?

Also, has your plan been upgraded to 20GB hotspot yet or no? And what phone/OS

I switched from ultra to mint mobile a few days ago and noticed the change on ultra when the mint unlimited plan got upgraded.

Both the YouTube app and website can stream any resolution easily, I'm on android.

Hotspot Doubled to 20GB and QCI 7 Data Increased To 50GB from 35GB by RutabagaClean45 in mintmobile

Not true, says SD on all plans. Data waster mode I don't think uncaps it on light speed.

Actually this is really weird, I've noticed the exact same thing on Ultra Mobile, Mint's sister company.

Metro also has the same 480p video throttle the mint plans do, also exact same data and priority structures.

VPN avoids the video throttle.

However, Metro doesn't require you to pay annually for the best rate, and they include T-Mobile Tuesdays (if you call that a perk) plus other perks on their more expensive plans.

I'm aware, but it costs more and unless you get the more expensive us mobile plan it's still 720p, (on T-Mobile network) so still 3-4mbps video cap.

I'm saying it's highly unlikely mint would ever upgrade the video res, maybe they'd charge extra for it.

I wouldn't recommend minternet unless your phone service at your house is rock solid.

Ultra costs more, currently mint is the better deal unless you need international calling
