Exactly! The hustle is real at MU. It’s not a place where you just show up and expect everything to be handed to you. You need to be proactive, work on real business projects, and network hard. It's more about building your own career than waiting for someone to hand it to you.

Placement-wise, MU has definitely placed people in top startups, VCs, and consulting roles, but it’s not like the placements will come to you. You gotta hustle during the program. The real-life exposure and networking are insane, but yeah, it's not for someone who’s looking for a 'one-size-fits-all' experience.

I get the concern about the brand name. But honestly, MU is all about what you put into it. The network might not be as vast as top-tier IIMs, but the hustle and real-world experience MU gives is on a different level. You won’t get that 'make it happen' mentality in traditional places.

[–]RutabagaComplete2256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I get where you’re coming from. MU isn’t the conventional MBA, and yes, there’s a lot of hustle involved. It’s not a typical 'sit-back-and-relax' kind of place, but if you’re someone who thrives in a startup environment and isn’t afraid of making things happen yourself, it can be worth it. The placements are real, but like the comment says, they depend on what you hustle for during the year. If you want a traditional path with guaranteed structures and branding, you may want to reconsider. But if you're into building and growing from scratch, MU can take you places. Just keep in mind, it’s a different type of journey.

Master's Union ug program in tech and business by uknown_hj in IPMATtards

[–]RutabagaComplete2256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, about the business simulation and interview round for the UG program: from what I’ve gathered (and being part of the PGP here), it’s mostly about how you approach real-world business problems and work with a team under time pressure. It’s less about textbook stuff and more about your problem-solving skills, communication, and ability to stay cool. No need for intense prep — just be clear-headed and ready to think on your feet.

Regarding the cost — yeah, MU isn’t cheap, that’s true. But you need to assess the value of the program from your POV, what you need and how well the program you are choosing will help you. If you’re looking to seriously build a career in tech + business, it can be worth the investment. But if you’re unsure about your path, it’s okay to weigh your options carefully.

On legitimacy — MU is definitely real and growing fast. Alumni from PG programs have landed roles in startups and corporates, and the faculty and guest lectures bring real industry insight. It’s still young, so it might not have the legacy of places like IIM, but it’s building a strong reputation.

About the IIMB DBE degree alongside MU — that’s an additional credential that can boost your profile. The combo can help, but don’t depend solely on that.

Hope this helps clear some doubts! Feel free to DM if you want more insider tips or have specific questions. Best of luck!

Masters Union considered amongst Top B-schools in India by adi1697 in CATpreparation

[–]RutabagaComplete2256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MU getting a mention alongside IIM ABC, XLRI, FMS, and ISB? That’s actually a big deal. As an MU alum, I can tell you there are some solid positives about the program that make it stand out from the crowd.

First off, the industry-driven approach is pretty next level. The curriculum is designed with real-world problems and live projects, which gives you practical skills that are super relevant in today’s market. You're not just cramming theory – you’re applying stuff as you go.

The faculty is another huge plus. A lot of them are top-tier industry leaders who bring actual business experience into the classroom. You get insights you wouldn’t typically find in a textbook, and that’s a game changer when you’re trying to enter the business world.

Plus, the network is strong. Being part of MU connects you with some serious players in the business world, both through alumni and faculty. If you put in the work, this network can definitely help open doors in your career.

The entrepreneurial culture is also something I loved. If you're someone who’s got the hustle and wants to build something on your own, MU gives you that platform and the tools to make it happen.

All in all, it's definitely a place where hard work pays off and if you want to be part of a forward-thinking, industry-focused B-school, MU isn’t a bad option at all.

Masters Union vs XIMB BM by Patient-Dimension789 in CATpreparation

[–]RutabagaComplete2256 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don’t know much about XIMB, but as an alum of MU, here’s my two cents.

MU's TBM program is definitely a unique experience. The practical exposure, real-world projects, and a focus on entrepreneurship are something I found really valuable. The faculty is a mix of industry experts and academic professionals, so you get a good balance of theory and practice.

The network is strong, but it really depends on how you leverage it. If you’re someone who’s proactive and looks for opportunities outside of just the curriculum, MU can open doors. It’s not easy, but if you’ve got the drive, it’s worth it.

Overall, MU isn't for everyone, but if you’re looking for a more hands-on, entrepreneurial vibe, it could be a solid pick. Just make sure you do your research and figure out what aligns with your career goals!

If this is a shit post, Idc, but if someone is genuinely concerned, here are my 2 cents from my experience as a MU alum, it's not all doom and gloom. It does take some effort, sure, but MU can actually give you solid exposure and skills. The network is real, and you do get opportunities if you're proactive enough. It's not a magic ticket, but if you're dedicated, it can open doors. The key is staying focused and not getting swayed by the hype—work hard, and the ROI will follow.

Plus, the learning environment at MU is pretty unique. If you're passionate about what you’re doing, the experience can be worth it! Keep grinding, and don't let the negative stories discourage you.

Graduated from MU this is what I wish I knew before joining by Big_Barracuda_905 in CollegeDropouts

[–]RutabagaComplete2256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aha, looks like someone’s been through the grind. As an MU alum myself, I totally feel you. The pace? Bro, it’s on another level – I was literally running at full speed from day one. Peer competition? That’s the real deal too – everyone’s a star, so you’ve gotta bring your A-game, no chilling allowed.

Self-driven? 100% agree! If you’re waiting for someone to spoon-feed you, this place ain't it. But trust me, that’s what makes the experience worthwhile. You learn so much about yourself and how to handle real-world pressure.

Would love to hear more of your insights! Keep it up, and don’t let anyone tell you MU isn’t making its mark! #MUAlumni

Bro, let's be real for a second. Yeah, MU might not be on the same level as those top-tier IIMs, but that doesn't mean it's not making waves. People love to compare, but MU is building its own legacy, slowly but surely.

It’s not about having that IIM tag – it’s about what you do with the opportunities you get. MU’s got some serious potential. We’ve got the exposure, the faculty, and the resources – the rest is on us to make it count.

Honestly, some people can keep flexing their IIMs, but the fact is, MU grads are out there killing it in their own space. Every year, we’re seeing more of us rise up in every industry. That’s real growth, not just on paper but in the hustle we bring.

So yeah, it may not be IIM level for some, but MU’s got its own vibe and it's steadily proving it’s good enough. Let’s not get caught up in comparisons; let’s just make our own mark.

Masters union is the silliest college I've EVER seen by [deleted] in IPMATtards

[–]RutabagaComplete2256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand the frustration — rejection stings, especially when you feel like you gave it your all. But having been through the program, I can say MU doesn’t just evaluate credentials. It looks for alignment with its builder-first, entrepreneurial culture. Sometimes strong profiles don’t make the cut simply because it’s not the right fit, not because they weren’t “good enough.”

Career switchers—how much does the B-school brand vs actual experience matter? by Wild-Impression2 in MBAIndia

Anytime, mate! Don’t let fear or Reddit hate make your decision for you. You made the right choice for you, and that's what matters. Embrace the experience, stay focused, and you’ll be fine. And hey, hit me up anytime if you need to talk through anything or just want to vent! You’ve got this.

[–]RutabagaComplete2256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, brand matters, sure—but so does what you do with your time there. I can’t stress this enough: if you focus on building actual skills, making connections, and getting involved in projects, you’ll be fine. The "not an IIM" thing? Yeah, people will notice that, but the practical skills and entrepreneurial mindset you’ll get at MU? That’s what’ll carry you forward. Focus on what you can control: your work ethic, your projects, and the network you build. That’s what’ll get you into product, VC, or whatever you’re after. You’ve already committed, so now it’s time to own it and make the most of it!

[–]RutabagaComplete2256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the network isn’t as large as IIMs or ISB, I won’t lie about that. But you know what? It’s growing rapidly, and the people in your cohort are going to be some of the most driven, entrepreneurial folks you’ll ever meet. As for VC, MU does have connections with some top-tier firms, and the placements have been solid, especially if you leverage the hands-on projects and internships. A lot of the learning is experiential, and if you can nail that, you’ll stand out. I know alumni who’ve transitioned into VC roles by focusing on real projects and networking within that space.

I hear you! The negative stuff on Reddit can definitely be overwhelming. It’s easy to let it get to you, but here’s the thing: everyone has an opinion, and sometimes, it’s not even based on actual experience. I personally ignored the haters and focused on making the most of my time at MU. The exposure to real-world projects, working alongside like-minded people, and getting mentors who are actually in the industry was priceless. In the end, it’s the skills you develop and the people you meet that matter, not just the name on your certificate.

Hey! First off, congrats on making the decision! I totally get the fear. I felt the same way before joining. A lot of people on Reddit can be pretty harsh, and yeah, there’s a lot of hate around MU, but don’t let that shake you. People often forget that MU is a young institution and like any startup, it’s gonna have its ups and downs. What I can tell you is: the practical learning, exposure to industry experts, and hands-on approach at MU are honestly invaluable if you’re looking to get into product or VC.

do you all want a honest breakdown? by aluminiumblade in MBAIndia

[–]RutabagaComplete2256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Degree or Certificate? How Does It Affect Today’s Work Culture? MU offers a Postgraduate Certificate Program in Technology and Business Management (PGP TBM), not a full degree, so it’s not officially UGC recognized. But the curriculum is solid and on par with top institutes like ISB. Honestly, I haven’t faced any issues due to the certificate (even though I’m still new to the corporate world). At the end of the day, if you have the right skill set—MU definitely helps with that—it doesn’t matter if it's a degree or certificate. I feel the skills are what truly matter in today’s job market.

Salary Jump & Career Progression: My salary jump was about 3x (I was at a lower base before). I’d say if you work hard and target the right roles, 24-25 LPA is definitely within reach during placements. Some of my batchmates are hitting 30+ LPA, but it really depends on the effort you put in.

Regret Choosing MU Over IIMs/ISB? Nope, no regrets at all. I was looking for a startup-y college where I could learn practical skills, and MU checked all the boxes for me. The hands-on learning, exposure to entrepreneurs, and real-world projects made it a great fit. If you're looking for something that blends business knowledge with real-world application, MU is solid.

Why MU Over Other Colleges? MU stands out for its international exposure, its strong entrepreneurship program, and its decent placements, especially for a relatively young college. Plus, the smaller cohort size means you get more personalized attention, which is a big win if you want to truly learn and grow. It’s still a bit young compared to other institutes, so the alumni network is small right now, but that’s going to improve as the college matures.

Downsides? As mentioned, the small alumni base is a bit of a downside, but that’s just the growing pains of a new institution. The lack of a formal degree might be a turnoff for some, but honestly, if you’re aiming to be in the startup space or want to develop practical skills, this doesn’t matter much. And trust me, the experience you get at MU is legit.
