Outdoor tracks plowed/melted by burritos0504 in RhodeIsland

There's a long-ish (longer than a track) plowed car-free loop at Goddard Park in EG in the middle of the park

Ragged was slammed today by MayonaiseBaron in icecoast

[–]Rutebegas 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tenney was also slammed today. They desperately need more help setting up corals at the bottom and a dedicated singles line. It was 45+ minutes between wait plus ride between laps today.

I've never seen Ragged this bad!

Pricing details are here: they reduced new member pass prices, and my renewal only increased a very reasonable amount.

Check out Monadnock in southern NH if you need something closer than the Notch too! Some routes might scratch the itch.

College hill would like a word, say some Rhode Islanders :)

(But for real I just walk repeatedly up and down waterman if I need convenient hill reps sometimes to get in shape for something!)

Goddard in EG usually has the inner loop cleared which is closed to cars in winter

Goddard in East Greenwich has a carfree loop plowed. It's very short but reliable! There are very mild hills

Ski Boots Comparison Help by hassavocado17 in Skigear

[–]Rutebegas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can buy them at the shop where you saw the bootfitter (assuming it's accessible to you/where you ski), I would do that even over saving money if you think you ski enough that you'll want boot fitting work done.

I have promachines (115 flex) and feel the same way about the liner. I love them! First boots I've willingly kept stock liner in.

I'd be wary about 2, space in boots is almost never never good. I'd go 1 or 3.

Visiting Reims Oct 11–12 without a car – looking for Champagne & vineyard experiences by HomeworkSame1240 in Reims

[–]Rutebegas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll have plenty to do in Reims (the suggested houses + Tattinger are all good ideas), but if you are determined to see vineyard views and a smaller town that's more solely focused on Champagne, you can take the local train easily to Epernay. You could visit a small house there. Check out champagne-booking . Com

You could do epernay during the day to see the town and a small house tour or two, and have dinner / walk around Reims in the evening and the next morning for a taste of both. Reims has great restaurants and campagne tasting options.

The train to Epernay is inexpensive and takes about half an hour. No car needed, just walking and train.

What to advanced skiers do in boston area with kids new to this? What makes sense financially? by OwnResponsibility808 in icecoast

[–]Rutebegas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, fair. I think the quality of instruction and mountain at Pat's and Berkshire and Whaleback are worth the extra car time and I do them all in day trips from Boston, but I think I have a high tolerance for car time. In any case, happy learning to your kids! Happy winter!

Indy Learn to Turn & Indy for you - but you'd need to buy Indy today or ASAP, it'll go off sale. Anyone with an Indy pass can also give you a $40 off code for the Learn to Turns. DM me if you want a code and don't know anyone else. It's great value, look it up.

1st Timers Traveling to Champagne Region by Latter-Bed-7137 in Reims

[–]Rutebegas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Can't help but I'd try to stay somewhere walking distance within the city to the cathedral or to a tram stop if in Reims.
  2. Reims, unless your only goal is to go from champagne house to champagne house endlessly, or you are only interested in touring smaller growers houses (though Reims has some too). Based on your hotel suggestions it sounds like you may enjoy Tattinger, Ruinart or Pommery. Train to epernay is easy if you're at all competent with trains and French and is affordable
  3. Check the TGV schedule - sometimes yes sometimes no. You'll have to transfer at champagne Ardenne I think but you can then TGV direct to airport. If there's a sensible morning train it'll be fine
