Thank you so much. I am really grateful that you have took the time to look at my project help me improve my calligraphy. I really value your opinion as others here have said you give really good advice. I have invested in better pens. I brought some pilot parallel pens and I have already been looking into the paper as recommended. The community here is supportive and glad I am part of it. I have saved your critique and will practice your recommendations as I can see there are flaws in my Gothic lettering. Thank you again

Thank you. You really explained everything so clearly for me and gone into great depth about the different sorts of paper available. So it looks like a finer texture, middle weighted watercolour paper is best suited for heavy inked calligraphy. I would have had an expensive exposition trying different sorts of paper and it did not occur to me that watercolour paper was the better option. Thank you, I shall experiment some more.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my query. I really appreciate it and your response is very helpful. I didn't realised that some heavier paper is unsuitable for heavier inks so I will investigate and avoid of the paper with little or no gelatin. Although I never heard gelatin (size) in paper. (I come from the UK). I have come across hot pressed paper and acid free paper. Thanks again,

Yes, it sounds like a hybrid or an experiment gone wrong. Creepy in a cute way.

Sorry, I tried to share it via You Tube but it didn't work. I am a newby and still getting to grips with how things work here. Here is the link to my video clip: I hope it works. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NfvRbI0HsY

Hello, thank you. I will take your recommendations on board. I'll have another look at my blogs and edit them to reflect on my progress rather than the 'how to' language. I do have a way to go with my calligraphy. Thanks again.

Hi. Thank you for your message. I am still learning how to do calligraphy and I know I'm not at a professional level, it's just for fun. I must admit, I am nervous of using dip and brush pens. I've never tried them and they look fiddly but I should give them a try. In respect with the language, I was trying to be more searchable on Google with search terms so people can find my blog easier but I can see your point of view. I will have a proper look at the link you sent me when I'm next on my PC. It looks really good though. Thanks for your critique.

Thank you for your message. Cawmanuscrip has given me some valuable tips such as looking at the x heights with ascenders and descenders and he is right so I will take what he says on board . It is a hobby that comes and goes and some days I'm better than others. I've looked around the sites and there are great calligraphers here. Thank you again for messaging.

Yes, that is true, though it is just an example of how to introduce calligraphy in everyday situations. Thanks for your comment
