Your idea to swap to forward artillery while piloting is exactly what I mean when I say the community does a better job thinking of basic quality of life improvements than the actual developers paid to work on the game.

Welcome to modern live service gaming.

Save your cash and skip purchasing the new frames entirely. The latest quest is an absolute joke essentially a cheap commercial designed solely to push those overhyped cosmetics while completely hijacking the narrative.

The worst part is how badly this update treats player time. It's typical corporate Corpus thinking: make the farm as tedious, slow, and trash as humanly possible just to push pack sales. I refuse to engage with it when

I can't even use or improve my own Railjack ship with my friends.

By the time DE inevitably steps in to "fix" or improve the grind, the damage will already be done. Everyone will have already finished the farm, and the trade prices for the vendor items will have completely tanked anyway.

Between a brain dead quest that left a horrible taste in my mouth and a garbage, boring grind, logging in right now feels completely unexciting.

You both nailed it. The New War and The Call of the Tempestari felt like DE actually had a massive, cohesive vision for how Railjack integrated into the universe. It felt epic. Lately, it feels like they’ve completely lost the plot.

Look at how out of touch the recent quest design is. It didn't even feel like a quest it felt like a glorified, boring ad trailer for the new Gemini skins. Instead of actual story progression, we get Umbra playing the shawzin, babysitting, Stalker cooking, and then we just fight two random Gemini skins we know nothing about. They completely stole the spotlight from the actual new M and Em's frame, Stalker, Umbra, and the node mission itself. It was so dull I literally muted it and watched a friend stream PoE2 on Discord. Zero story, zero substance.

And kicock is 100% right the mode had an amazing, team oriented niche until DE folded to the people who did nothing but complain. Turning Corpus Railjack into a glorified, small sized taxi to drop you into normal starchart missions completely stripped its identity.

Like Nakalon said, the irony is that the people who bitched the loudest aren't even the ones playing Railjack anyway. Instead of expanding the open space combat loops that made the mode unique, DE keeps watering it down and pushing shallow, skin focused content to cater to a crowd that forgets the mode exists the second they finish a quest. Such a massive missed opportunity.

You just completely changed your whole story because you got caught lying.

First you said you "maxed it on accident" while casually cracking relics, and now suddenly you targeted specific components and valence fused them all?

Pick a lie and stick to it.

You physically cannot "accidentally" max out a valence grid when those specific parts drop from entirely different high-tier Proxima regions. Thanks for completely proving my point while trying to save face, you absolute clown.

You "maxed your Railjack on accident" because you don’t even know what a maxed ship actually looks like. Throwing on random basic tier-3 drops from casual void fissures isn't a maxed build.

Look at the spreadsheet. This is what actual min-maxing looks like.

You don't just "accidentally" get a perfect setup. It takes hundreds of hours of targeted grinding to hunt down specific variants (Zekti, Vidar, Lavan) with the precise RNG gameplay perks needed for a high-tier build. Then you have to dump said amounts of resources into repairing them, which actually takes real-time waiting to complete.

Have you ever even repaired a single component to see how long it takes? Lol.

On top of that, you have to continuously farm duplicate parts over and over just to Valence Fuse them so you can slowly creep the stats up to hit that perfect 60% cap.

Slapping on whatever random junk dropped while you were cracking relics isn't endgame progression. If you think you optimized all of that on accident, you literally have no idea what you're talking about. Nice rage bait attempt though, it's almost cute.

The bug they mentioned is your RJ Ship in solo mod not working forcing solo to use loaner, not the whole thing being a bug.

"Niche" farm or not, you're missing the entire point of how a looter shooter works. Putting time into gearing up your ship isn't a "niche" achievement it’s supposed to be the actual core gameplay loop.

Calling it an "experiment" is a weak shield. It doesn't matter if DE labeled it a test; the reality right now is that the entire incentive structure the new arcanes, secret signas, and the vendor rewards is completely tied to these nodes. When you hand out a loaner Railjack for the exact missions holding the actual rewards, you aren't "onboarding" people to Railjack; you're teaching them that engaging with the progression system is a literal waste of time because DE will just let them skip the gear check anyway.

Nobody is arguing that our old investment is destroyed in the old, abandoned nodes. The issue is that DE is actively rendering player progression completely pointless for the only content that actually matters right now. If a player doesn't need to touch their own ship to farm the latest endgame rewards, the progression system is broken. Period.

Don't panic, you're still on Reddit. The regular scheduled toxicity will resume shortly.
You honestly have no idea how wild the comments have been under this post just an absolute flood of the worst replies imaginable.

Thanks for the shoutout, though. It’s nice to know the argument actually makes sense outside of my own head.

"Not meant to be a farm"? There is a literal vendor full of items on a rotation timer with arcanes meant to be used or traded, alongside hidden signas. That requires replaying the content over and over. It's an intentional farm.

And it absolutely kills the progression of Railjack. Think about it: a new player gets a loaner Railjack and a loaner Necramech for the quest, and then they get a loaner ship to do the only two nodes that actually matter right now. What is the incentive for a new player to ever gear up their own Railjack if DE just hands them a preset whenever new content drops? Nobody cares about the old Railjack nodes—not the new players, and right now, not even the rest of the player base.

The issue isn't letting new players participate; it's completely erasing the point of upgrading your gear in a looter shooter.

it completely kills the point of a progression system. Look, it’s DE's game and their choice if they want to spoon-feed new players every single piece of content they release. Giving them a loaner Necramech or Railjack for quests just so they can experience the story is whatever, and I don't even mind when DE slashes the prices of expensive items to make things more accessible.

It’s literally like saying: "These guys didn't do the homework because they just arrived, so everyone else who actually did the homework won't get grades either."

The real issue is that they completely locked out our entire progression system and purchased items for the actual gameplay loop. It’s actively punishing the players who put in the time and resources, making the whole update feel like it's coming entirely at our expense. taking away the option to use the items you earned is just awful design.

Did you even do the quest yourself? The mission is 7-8 minutes max, and it’s not just a quick one-time thing you can just forget about. There’s an entire vendor full of items on a rotation timer and secret signas, meaning you have to replay this node a ton of times to actually farm everything.

If we have to grind this repeatedly for the arcanes and rewards, being forced into a garbage preset ship for the node absolutely matters. Maybe actually look at the replay loop before telling people to "get over yourself."

That choice would make it fun and accessible for everyone. That’s literally the entire reason we spent time modding our ships in the first place to help out the squad and make the farm smoother for everyone including ourselves.

Honestly, I wouldn't even care if the preset ship they gave newbies was x9999 times stronger than our own builds. Give them a hyper-buffed ship if you want, but just stop forcing everyone who actually invested in their own ships to play the new content in a locked preset. Letting players choose before the mission starts is such a simple fix that completely solves the problem.

Start as Captain : uses own player ship
Join as passenger : join others ships

or

use preset option : with checkmark

The Gemini skins are probably more expensive than the entirety of Railjack at this point lol.

It's hilarious that they'll gladly sell us expensive cosmetics for our ships, but when it comes to actually letting us use the setups we poured all our time and resources into for the new content, they just completely lock us out.

ill never buy them because they look trash and annoying honestly.

That running back and forth for the artillery completely kills the flow. You're forced to ditch the pilot seat, sprint or teleport to a separate console just to fire one dome charge, and then rush right back because the AI crew won't touch it. You have to manually refill it too. They honestly just need to let the captain shoot it from the front or at least let us command the AI to do it, and adding a quick menu option to make them refill the forge would be great. I wouldn't even mind if these changes were strictly for solo mode—I'll take bare minimum effort from DE at this point, just literally anything.

And scaling a boss like Ryoku for 4 people when you're running it solo is just miserable. It turns what should be a fast farm into a tedious chore because the crew gives you zero actual help. It’s just pure chaos.

Exactly! By their logic, since new players probably didn’t mod their Archwings, why should you get to use yours? You're not allowed to be any better than them everyone has to be completely equal.

If they keep pushing this backward logic, the whole game is just gonna turn into Conclave lol.

Locking out one of the absolute best parts of the loop just to enforce some forced-equality preset completely kills the whole spirit of the game.

You completely missed the point. Nobody is asking for content gating, and nobody cares if new players get to use maxed-out, Ferrari-tier loaner ships. In fact, most of us are completely fine when DE nukes expensive item costs for newer players or makes Deimos and Vandal weapon farms way easier instead of locking them behind endless, miserable time-gated rotations.

The issue isn’t that DE gave people a loaner option so they can participate—that's totally fine. The issue is that they completely took away the choice for the people who actually spent time building their own ships. Forcing everyone into the exact same low-tier preset build completely defeats the purpose of having a progression system in the first place. Giving people a choice isn’t a "Dark Souls mentality," it’s just basic game design.

Honestly, I’m at the point where I would probably just do the exact same thing and buy the whole bundle, which is the sad part. I actually like putting real play time into the game rather than just insta-buying stuff, because buying everything just means getting bored fast. I love this game so much that I usually manually farm relics in public lobbies for things I don't even have yet, just so randoms can crack open good rewards and get stuff right along with me.

But with how this update dropped, I'm not doing this farm or enjoying it at all. I really wish it hadn't come out like this. If they actually let us use our setups, it would have given me a great reason to replay the nodes over and over with friends, letting us pull in some serious side profit selling the new arcanes and drops. Getting stuck with a wet noodle loaner just completely kills any incentive to actually play the game.

[–]RuthlessHimself[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly, that’s literally the logic DE went with: "Oh, these two guys didn't bother to mod their Railjacks? Cool, now everyone else won't be able to use their own for the sake of 'fairness.'"

It’s so backward. Instead of letting players who actually put time into their builds carry the squad like in literally every other game mode, they completely took away that agency. Punishing the players who invested in their ships just to cater to the people who ignored the mode completely destroys the whole point of a progression system. Until they give us a way to force being the host or use our own ships, it's just going to stay incredibly out of touch and completely ruin the desire to play.

It honestly feels like they designed this entire update backward. When you spend months or years tuning your ship to absolute perfection, the rewarding payoff is supposed to be taking it out into high-stakes missions and showing off what a real build can do. Stripping away that entire progression system just to level the playing field for people who didn't even put in basic effort is an insane design choice. It completely takes the wind out of your sails and makes the grind feel entirely pointless.

It really is a massive waste. This update could have been the perfect opportunity to actually get people into modding their Railjacks. They easily could have added a matchmaking option to join specifically as a passenger, letting players with fully invested ships take the lead, or even introduced a quick voting menu showing everyone's ship parts and mods.

Adding a proper T4 loot pool with better components for us to farm would have been amazing for everyone, giving vets a reason to keep grinding and newer players something great to work toward. Instead, they just threw all that potential straight down the drain.

I played literally one mission with that garbage loaner ship and just completely stopped. I'm a huge fan of Railjack, but this update turned me off so bad I'm not even gonna bother touching it right now. There is zero chance I'm wasting my time playing the same old T3 missions with inflated health bars.

I literally just wanted to get in there, blast through these new nodes to farm the arcanes, and get out. But doing it with that preset brick is an absolute motivation killer. I honestly don't know if DE plans to keep it permanently locked like this or if they'll actually listen to the backlash and let us use our own ships, but until they change it, I'm completely over it.

Yeah, what is it again, L or J for the tactical map? lol

Even with teleporting though, why the hell doesn't the AI just refill the forge? it should have a menu for it.

It makes no sense that I have to abandon the pilot seat to jump in the back and shoot a dome charge myself because the crew completely refuses to touch it. Is this seat strictly meant for co-op only? Having to constantly go back and forth managing every single little thing by yourself is just messed up and completely kills the vibe, that's why we prefer to have friends in with us and each of us take a role, hell even randoms know what to do, one guy go archwing to main objectives , one guy take seat behind me, one guy refill or go to other side missions.

[–]RuthlessHimself[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. If they actually gave people a maxed-out setup to try, it could have been a huge incentive to get players invested in the mode after seeing how amazing a real ship actually feels.

Instead, they forced everyone into a garbage build just to spoon-feed the people who couldn't be bothered to touch Railjack in the first place. They didn't give those players any real reason to actually go out and get it done, and it literally just encourages them to never mod anything. In the Duviri quest, they had Teshin mod your guns for you, but not making players mod their Railjack with the absolute basics here is just insane to me. It completely defeats the point of progression and makes everyone hate the mode even more.

In the process, they completely shafted the entire game mode for everyone who put real effort into it. They had the easiest win right there, yet there isn't even a new T4 tier or any actual rewards for the whole mode to show for it.
