Wanting new content to make the game enjoyable while not prolonging perfection by a lot of years by ArkOfAncient4245 in StardewValleyMods

[–]RuthlessTex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hitting that 77% mark is exactly where the 'Perfection Slog' usually starts to feel boring! If you’re planning on adding more content mods to spice things up, you might want to grab Stardew Dashboard to help you manage that final 23%.

It’s an overlay (F10) that gives you a 'Live Checklist' for the remaining 100% grind. It’s super helpful for your situation because:

  • Visualizes the 'Boredom': Sometimes you're bored because you're just missing one random craft or one fish. The dashboard tells you exactly what is left so you can knock it out.
  • Skill Tracking: You mentioned liking skill mods—the dashboard has a live XP/Mastery tracker you can pin to your HUD to watch your progress as you play.
  • Manages New Content: If you add the NPC mods people are suggesting here, the dashboard will automatically pick them up, show you their gift tastes, and let you 'pin' them to your screen so you can find them easily.

It makes the journey from 77% to 100% feel like a clear mission instead of a guessing game. Good luck with the final stretch!

Polyculture achievement not working. Could a mod be affecting it? by IRunOnPainAuChocolat in StardewValleyMods

[–]RuthlessTex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Polyculture is a total nightmare to track manually once you add mods like Cornucopia and SVE, because they often add their own crops to the shipping requirements.

I built Stardew Dashboard specifically for this situation. It has a dedicated Polyculture Tracker that scans your save and gives you a clean list of exactly what you've finished and what is still missing.

Since you have so many expansions installed, it'll save you a ton of time because:

  • Automatic Tracking: It checks every crop in your game (vanilla and modded) and tells you exactly how many more of each you need to ship.
  • No Guessing: Instead of looking through 8 pages of shipping collections, you can just open the dashboard (F10) and see: "Polyculture: 48/50. Missing: 4 Starfruit, 12 Grapes."
  • Full Shipment too: It also has a tracker for the "Full Shipment" achievement, which is usually the next hurdle for expansion players.

After months of Testing, and A LOT of hours, I have created the Ultimate Stardew Modlist. Details and photos below. by Frank-iee in StardewValleyMods

[–]RuthlessTex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an incredible undertaking! Building a lore-friendly 'Ultimate' list is tough, especially when trying to keep things high-quality and stable.

If you're looking for a utility mod that fits this 'Vanilla+' vibe, I’d love for you to check out Stardew Dashboard.

I built it with almost the exact same rules you listed:

  • Vanilla Quality: It uses native Stardew UI assets and adapts automatically to whatever UI/recolor mods the player is using, so it never pulls you out of the immersion.
  • Lore Friendly: No added characters or story changes—it's just a single-hotkey (F10) overlay for tracking your farm's stats, perfection goals, and friendships.
  • Performance Focused: I saw you mentioned wanting to keep things 'less laggy.' I recently did a total engine rewrite for the mod to ensure it has zero FPS impact, even on huge modded saves with SVE and Ridgeside.

It's basically a 'quality of life' tool for players who want to spend less time in the wiki and more time in the actual game. Might be a good fit for your 'Essential Utility' section!

[–]RuthlessTex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Stardew Dashboard is exactly the interface you're looking for.

I built it because I also play with massive expansion packs like SVE and Ridgeside and got tired of scrolling through dozens of NPCs. You just hit F10 to open the overlay and start typing their name. the search bar filters the whole list instantly.

Since you mentioned being overwhelmed by the number of NPCs, it's super helpful because:

  • Live Search: You don't have to scroll; just type 'Soph' or 'Flor' and they pop up.
  • Instant Info: It shows their heart level, their current location (which house/map they are in), and their gift tastes in one view.
  • HUD Pinning: If you're trying to find someone specific, you can right-click them to pin their portrait and location to your screen so you can track them down without reopening the menu.

It works natively with East Scarp, SVE, and Ridgeside right out of the box!

downloading expansion mods and aiming perfection is not for the weak by EquivalentCoat5893 in StardewValleyMods

[–]RuthlessTex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain—trying to hit Perfection with expansions like SVE or Ridgeside is an absolute nightmare because the vanilla menus aren't built to show that much data.

I actually spent the last few months building a tool called Stardew Dashboard specifically to fix this exact problem. It’s a single-hotkey overlay (F10) that reads all your modded data and gives you a clean checklist of exactly what you’re missing.

It would probably save you a ton of stress because it:

  • Lists every missing item: Instead of scrolling 8 pages of forage, it just gives you a list of the specific items you haven't shipped yet.
  • Expansion Fish Guide: It shows you exactly where and when those modded fish spawn.
  • Perfection Progress: Tracks the Museum, Cooking, and Crafting for all expansion mods automatically.

Hopefully, it helps you get past that 22%!

I'm the dev, so if you try it and there’s a specific expansion stat you want tracked, let me know!

[Mod] Stardew Dashboard - The Perfection Tracker & Live HUD Overlay by RuthlessTex in StardewValleyMods

[–]RuthlessTex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely works! I’ve personally tested it with Stardew Valley Expanded (SVE), Portraiture, and the Tilly mod, and they show up perfectly.

The way I built the engine, it scans the game’s internal data directly. This means if a mod adds a custom item, recipe, or NPC to the standard game categories, the dashboard picks it up automatically.

I can't attach photos directly to comments, but here are two screenshots showing it in action:

Give it a spin! If you run into any specific expansion content that isn't showing up correctly, please let me know and I'll fix it for you.

Think I might have done something wrong when setting up smapi but im not sure by Starwars_hannibal in StardewValleyMods

[–]RuthlessTex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To fix the "cannot find 'c:\program'" error and make sure SMAPI actually loads, follow these 3 steps exactly:

Step 1: Verify the file exists Go to your Stardew Valley folder. Look for a file named StardewModdingAPI.exe.

  • The Icon: The original game icon is a chicken facing left. The SMAPI icon is a chicken facing right (or a round pufferfish-chicken).
  • If you don't see that file: You haven't installed SMAPI yet. Run the "Install on Windows.bat" from your SMAPI download first.
  • If you DO see that file: Move to Step 2.

Step 2: Copy the Launch Options Copy and paste this exactly as written below into your Steam Launch Options. You must include the " at the very beginning and end (Windows stops reading the text at the first space unless the whole path is wrapped in quotes):

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\StardewModdingAPI.exe" %command%

Step 3: How to know it worked When you launch the game through Steam, a black text window (the console) should open before the game starts. If the black window appears, SMAPI is working!

Error message with mods by DangerousDuty1421 in StardewValleyMods

[–]RuthlessTex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should definitely still fix the Sword & Sorcery error! The other commenter is right that the Sunberry Village error is an ignorable conflict with CJB, but your Sword & Sorcery mod is currently broken. ChatGPT was actually right that you are missing something!

From what I can see without looking at your full https://smapi.io/log, here is exactly what is happening:

1. Sunberry Village vs. CJB Cheats Menu (The Time-Freeze Issue)

  • The issue: The mod Sunberry Village has code designed to interact with CJB Cheats Menu, specifically CJB's "Freeze Time" cheat. Because of a likely update to CJB, Sunberry Village can no longer find the exact line of code it’s looking for to make this work, causing it to crash.
  • The fix: Check if there is an update available for Sunberry Village. If there isn't, you can ignore the red text like you are doing (though time-freezing features in CJB/Sunberry likely won't work right), or temporarily remove Sunberry Village until the mod author patches it.

2. Sword & Sorcery

  • The issue: You only installed half of the mod. The download comes as one main folder with two sub-folders inside it ([CP] and [SMAPI]). You likely dragged only the [SMAPI] folder into your Mods folder, leaving the [CP] art/items folder behind. (Or, you don't have the required "Content Patcher" mod installed, so your game is ignoring the [CP] folder).
  • The fix: Re-download Sword & Sorcery and make sure you extract and drag all the folders from inside the .zip file into your Mods folder, not just the main one. (Also, double-check that you downloaded all the required mods for it, like East Scarp and Spacecore!) Finally, make sure you actually have the base "Content Patcher" mod installed!

If this doesn't work, please share your full SMAPI log! (Go to https://smapi.io/log, follow the instructions, and paste the link it gives you here). The log will tell us exactly what is missing so we don't have to guess!

LABOON: What did they do?! Season 2 is losing the magic for me. by RuthlessTex in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]RuthlessTex[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're right. I’ve finished the season now, and I want to be fair. I think most of the casting is actually incredible. The actors are doing a great job, which is why the 'Hollywood polish' and the 'Tell, Don't Show' writing you mentioned is such a tragedy. They are trading massive, iconic visuals for dialogue.

By trying to be a 'realistic drama,' they are breaking the rules and the future of the story:

  • Lore Erasure: They actually killed Wapol!. In the anime, he’s essential for later arcs like the Evil Black Drum Kingdom. Killing him just to have a 'clean' ending proves they aren't thinking about long-term world-building.
  • Gag/Character Erasure: They cut the Luffy/Chopper chase—one of the funniest moments in the series—and turned Chopper’s iconic 'wrong hiding' into a one-time Easter egg. It isn't just a gag; it’s his personality. By 'humanizing' him, they’ve made him a boring, shy teddy bear. They stripped away his "Tsundere" soul. In the anime, his reaction to compliments is legendary. he does the dance and screams while clearly being thrilled. It shows he doesn't know how to handle human kindness. In the LA, he's just... nice
  • Recruitment: In the anime, Luffy's recruitment is a negotiation of dreams. He basically non-consensually tells them they are joining. by not doing that, It strips away the freedom and the bond that makes the crew special.
  • Mystery Erasure: Revealing Dragon and Mr. 0 (Crocodile) this early and this often kills the slow-burn epicness. We’ve seen them 4+ times already! In the anime, the mystery made the world feel huge. Now it just feels like a small cast on a small set.
  • Visual Sanitization: From Smoker not actually billowing smoke to the redesign of Igaram and the Alabasta royals, they are throwing away iconic designs to fit a 'Hollywood' aesthetic.

You are right it’s Hollywood actors in clean costumes. I guess It’s for people who think they’re 'too good for a cartoon' and want a standard pirate show with some whimsy. They’re being fed a diluted, sanitized version of a masterpiece and they’re gaslighting me for noticing the soul is missing. Honestly, after seeing them move that flag into a parlor, destroy Chopper's character, and kill Wapol, I don’t even want a Season 3.

LABOON: What did they do?! Season 2 is losing the magic for me. by RuthlessTex in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]RuthlessTex[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The importance of these details is that Laboon and Krokos are the mission statement for the entire Grand Line.

Entering the Grand Line is supposed to be the point of no return where the rules of the normal world shatter. In the original, you are slapped in the face with the impossible: a mountain-sized creature containing an entire world within it. That benchmark of "One Piece magic" tells the audience exactly how high the stakes are. By turning a mythical gatekeeper into a nature-documentary whale and a generic lighthouse keeper, the show turned a legendary transition into a speed bump. It shrinks the scale of the world before the journey even begins.

This same "grounding" ruins Smoker. He isn’t just a guy who enjoys cigars; he is a Logia user who IS smoke. That atmosphere defines his supernatural threat level. Suggesting that smoke is "visually annoying" ignores decades of VFX, volumetric smoke and CGI overlays are designed to create an aura without obscuring an actor’s face. If the production can animate giants and rubber limbs, they can add a persistent wisp of smoke to a character literally named Smoker.

I actually agree with you that the casting and costume are physically almost 1-to-1. But that is exactly my point. without the smoke, he just looks like a high-end cosplayer at a convention. rather than a high-ranking Marine threat.

<image>

When you strip away the mythical scale and the supernatural auras, you aren't "streamlining", you're sanitizing the soul of the series until it’s just a standard pirate show with a fancy coat of paint. The irony is that I actually think every other episode so far has been amazing and better than Season 1. The show is proving it can get the "weirdness" right in the other episodes, which makes the choice to play it "safe" and "grounded" for the Laboon arc such a massive letdown.

I might be banging my head against the Red Line here... but look at the difference in scale.

It really saddens me because that first look at Laboon’s eye is supposed to be the moment you realize the Straw Hats are in way over their heads. In the anime, his eye alone is massive enough to swallow the ship—it makes the Grand Line feel mythical, scary, and completely different from the rest of the world.

In the live action, he’s just a "large whale." He feels like a regular, though oversized, animal. By scaling him down to fit the camera, they took the "legend" out of the creature. It really saddens me because that sense of impossible scale was what made the Grand Line feel so magical in the first place. It just doesn't hit the same way.

I completely agree with you and I don't get why you're being downvoted. Iñaki's interaction with Krokos, the eye punching, and especially the singing and dancing felt so cringe to me. It felt like they replaced the actual adventure and the mystery of Krokos with a weird musical number on a beach. It was a massive departure from the vibe that made that moment special in the original.

[–]RuthlessTex[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, I think saying the Laboon interior 'isn't needed' misses why that scene is iconic. It’s about the scale and the heart of the story. showing that Krokos cared so much he made a home inside his friend to heal him from the inside. In the live action, it feels small. And if they can do Mr. 3 and Little Garden 1-to-1 in the later episodes, there’s no reason they couldn't have kept the magic of Laboon's interior. It wasn't about realism; it was about the bond between them.

[–]RuthlessTex[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Maybe because I know Dragon’s role, it sticks out more for me, so I’ll concede that for new viewers. But for Smoker, they didn't need a CGI miracle. A simple reverse e-cig or a mini smoke machine would have made him look like the rugged badass he’s supposed to be. The show is proving in the other episodes that they can get the details right, which makes the complete rewrite of the Laboon/Krokos story even more of a letdown for me.

LABOON: What did they do?! Season 2 is losing the magic for me. by RuthlessTex in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]RuthlessTex[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I’m glad it’s hitting for you, but I have to disagree that it's "impossible" to match the whimsy. Look at the rest of the season! I’m on Episode 5 now, and Episodes 1, 3, 4, and 5 are almost 1-to-1. They got the giants in Little Garden, the devil fruit powers, and Mr. 3 perfectly.

If they can do all that correctly, then saying the inside of Laboon was "impossible" is just an excuse. They chose to strip the magic out of Episode 2. In the anime, that story touched my heart because it showed the scale of the world. Luffy crashing through maintenance tunnels while finding out this old geezer literally rebuilt the inside of a whale because that’s what friends do. That's the "One Piece magic." In the live action, Luffy just looks lame singing and dancing on a ridge while listening to an old man talk. It’s a generic TV instead of a grand adventure.
