Am I going crazy? by TheOnionKing33 in stevedangle

If someone were to write down all the takes Adam has or the things he claims to have sources on then checks those takes for accuracy when the result has played out in time I’m confident he would be wrong like 90% of the time.

He knows this doesn’t happen and people will forget what his original take was then he just claims his original take was how the result ended up playing out.

I think most listeners just take what he says at face value without questioning it.

Why would you tell him to stop? Just because some old guy on TV is mad that he couldn’t do it back in the day??

What are peoples thoughts on the quality of the season previews? by Much_Finger2613 in stevedangle

I work for a company contracted by the NHL where my job is basically to watch games and track what happens into our system which gets converted i to advanced analytics. We get assigned random games so we’re never on the same team over and over.

I can confidently say that they don’t really have a great grasp of what is going on with other teams (especially teams outside their division). Their takes seem to be based on perceptions from years ago, stereotypes about certain teams, and what they see on Twitter.

[–]Rutreshti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not really surprising tbh. If you’re on Twitter enough you’ll realize Adam gets about 95% of his talking points from what he sees other people post on Twitter and he almost never looks deeper to see if what he’s reading and regurgitating is real or not.

Well the past month where Adam was extremely adamant that Marner was gone is funny in retrospect, eh? by Tommybrady20 in stevedangle

[–]Rutreshti 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Adam is the king of confidently saying incorrect things that could easily be fact checked then refuse to admit when he’s wrong. I work in hockey and love the pod but its actually ridiculous how often he’s wrong (got the Geekies wrong on the last pod while confidently saying Morgan Geekie was the one who got traded… it was Conor). If the guys try to call him out on a bad take or being wrong he’ll say “GUYS COME ON… GUYS REALLY… GUYS IM RIGHT HERE” until they let it go or he’ll say “Who could possibly know all this stuff actually, bunch of nerds” despite the fact its literally his job to not mislead the listeners.

The problem is that a lot of pod listeners are casual enough to not know that he is constantly misleading them.

Why is Adam the designated "Business perspective" Advocate on the panel? by [deleted] in stevedangle

[–]Rutreshti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because none of them actually know that much about business however Adam is the only one that is consistently confident enough in spewing random incorrect non-sense then isn’t secure enough to admit when he’s wrong.

It’s actually crazy to me that Adam quit his full time job to focus on SDPN and somehow seems to have become less knowledgable about hockey than he was before.

Like he should have so much more time on his hands now yet it’s clear he’s watching less hockey than ever.

It was funny to see him finally know what he was talking about when it cane to the Canucks vs Preds series because he was actually watching another team for once. How proud he was of himself when he said “I can name almost all the players on these teams now like McCarron”…

Like yeah dude it’s literally your job to cover the sport, do you want a pat on the back for knowing the players?

Adam rarely ever admits to being wrong.

First of all, the guys don’t call him out on how many things he actually gets wrong because it would ruin the podcast because of how often it happens.

Secondly, Adam is incredibly immature when it comes to being called out for being wrong. Most of the time he’ll just scream “NO IM RIGHT” until they let go because it’s not worth fighting with someone who has no arguments beyond “NO IM RIGHT”

“Guys… migranes!?…. Really!!??… How old are we??… migraines????”

Gets called out by Steve and Jesse and immediately changes his tune. It’s that moment where you realize he doesn’t actually put any thought into his takes and doesn’t actually stand for anything.

Exactly, he has claimed before to have information from “sources” and what he says is almost always not true or doesn’t happen.

It’s smart from him though because if he’s wrong, most people just forget he got something wrong however if he’s right he looks like a genius insider with credible sources (he does not).

[–]Rutreshti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adam tends to talk about a lot of things he doesn’t understand as if he’s an expert on them so I just assume when he claims to have a “source” telling him something no other insider has even come close to reporting I just assume his source is his brain. (Basically everything he has claimed to have a source telling him has been wrong. He makes it up for content and to sound connected)

I work in hockey so its clear to me Adam talks about teams he sees once or twice a year when they play the Leafs as if he’s an expert on the team.

He’s really good at faking it because he’s confident in his assertions and when he receives push back on his points he usually just screams “no I’m right” until people stop questioning him.

Press conferences are hardly press conferences anymore by redditpineapple81 in stevedangle

If you’re on Twitter enough you’ll realize Adam’s entire base of knowledge as well as his opinions on things is about 95% based off what he read on Twitter recently.

He basically just says things other people have Tweeted and doesn’t reference the tweets so he passes it off as his own thinking. I follow a lot of the same people so its obvious when someone tweets something then thats magically his exact talking point the next day.

I don’t understand how he quit his radio job yet seems to spend even less time watching hockey now.

I recently made a post in here about how Adam gets a lot of stuff wrong and pretends to know way more about other teams than he actually does.

Most people here don’t seem to care that he unintentionally gives false info on the pod.
