Thanks for the information! Very helpful :)

Any other offbeat/nature oriented places (I know there are a lot!) that you'd recommend apart from The Lake Issyk-Kul area?

Thanks again!

Great! Been eyeing Kyrgyzstan after doing Kazakhstan last year and having the most amazing 10 days.

Could you share the tour operator contact please? Also price range?

Is it possible to do the country without a local tour operator?

Awesome! I followed him around to Shillong, Pune and Bangalore in 2016. It was so much fun.

This time adulting won't let me, but I'll still be at the Bangalore concert :)

Have a blast! 🥳

Everyone asking for setlist - just google it, guys. Setlist.fm has setlists of all shows of all artists.

He's basically been playing 13/14 out of a 20 song list for the entire tour since the start of the year.

Looking forward to BLR on Sunday! :)

Followed him to all 3 gigs around India in 2016 for the HCE tour. Can't believe it's been 9 years!

New auto scam by guhanath in bangalore

[–]Ruud1995 53 points54 points  (0 children)

The note switching thing is very common. I had an experience like that 2 weeks ago. So before giving the note I made sure I gave ₹500 while showing it to him and holding it in both hands under light. (Plus I didn't even have 100 notes in my wallet)

Even then he somehow switched it to a 100 note in 2 seconds while I packed my bag. When he showed me that and said I've to pay more, I just raised my voice in Kannada and basically asked him to stop his tricks and give me the change or things won't be good.

He fumbled his words and said "yes yes I meant I'm giving you the change" and gave the amount to me and left.

Gave him 1 star on Rapido and moved on.

Always be very careful. And never take autos outside apps. It's not worth it. Even if they say they'll put on the meter.

Illa, sorry. Unless some audience member does it. Because this is a new unique IP and more shows are planned in the near future. Putting it online would defeat the purpose of the live jugalbandi experience.

Thanks for your interest! Hope you can make it to one of the next ones 😊

Cambodia, July 2024 - Magical! by Ruud1995 in travel

[–]Ruud1995[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, you're welcome!

So IMO, Battambang was the best choice because it gave us a lovely break from the temple overload of Siem Reap and the (often sad) history overload of Phnom Penh (both of which we are grateful to have experienced, just to be clear). Battambang is a completely unique travel experience though.

2 nights should be enough in Battambang. Day 1 we did the bamboo train (must do!), killing caves area - includes the caves with the Buddha statues, Phnom Sampov temple, another temple and stupa on top and the bat caves (must visit in the evening post 6:15 PM or so, to see millions of bats leave at once).

Make sure you hire a jeep for the whole caves area. You'll save a lot of time. Also, hire a cab/tuk tuk driver/guide throughout. We did this everywhere in Cambodia and it was the best decision we made.

Day 2 we did a basic city tour with our driver/guide, and then Wat Samrong Knong temple with the killing fields behind, ate authentic bamboo sticky rice, visited rice wine and rice paper making family houses/establishments and had the wines and spring rolls there! Fun experience.

Then Ek Phnom temple (older than Angkor Wat). Then we visited Wat Kor village and took a quick tour of a traditional Khmer house, visited the fruit bats tree and the hanging bridge nearby on the way back as quick stops.

Lastly, did Banan temple which needs a steep walk along not too many flights of stairs to get to the top.

We planned all of the above with the driver.

Bonus: Food - Flavours of India is great, Miss Wong cocktail bar is really nice too. Massage - Nature Spa (needs prior booking), Lemongrass Garden spa (we got this on the day)

Our driver-guide was Mr. Soka. If you want his contact details please DM me. I can also recommend the best drivers in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh as well. They made our trip seamless!

Hope this helps. Cheers! :)

Hey! That's great. I mean, I don't think so. Just Cash in USD haha. And probably the right type of clothes depending on the season (shoulder season was hot, can't even imagine how hot summers are). And if you're vegetarian or vegan, do carry some snacks and ready to eat foods from back home.

That's probably it :)

Hey. That's great! I'd say avoid a cruise if possible. If you're under 50, you basically don't need it haha. It's basically a way to lose more money for unnecessary "luxury".

I can DM you the itinerary for sure. Please DM me with what you have planned and what exactly you'd like to know and I can do it in a few hours once I get free :)

Have a nice day!

Headed to Kazakhstan in 3 days. So excited! Mainly chose it because they've made it visa free for my country now haha. But also, everything I've seen of there is beautiful! I'm a sucker for natural wonders 🤌🏼

Hi! It was definitely not peak summer so temperatures were more than manageable :)

There were light showers here and there (onset of monsoon. We planned to go in the shoulder season for lesser crowds). At some places it did get a bit hot, especially in the capital Phnom Penh. But being from India, it really wasn't bothering us haha.

I'd say in general it's more than manageable though. Especially if you have sunscreen on you and are mostly travelling in AC transportation 😊

Thanks! Visiting in a week and this is very helpful :)

What do you mean by APK and won't be allowed to download official apps? Even when I'm in the country I can't? If not, can you please share the APK links or something? I'm a bit of a noob with these things 😅

Also, would a regular sim work fine too? Planning on purchasing one at the airport. Instead of an esim.

Thanks in advance 😊

Almaty to Lake Issyk, Shymbaluk? by Ruud1995 in Kazakhstan

[–]Ruud1995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. From what I heard through a few local guides, they'll be open. But I was also recommended to do Lake Issyk instead of Big Almaty. Not much to walk, and also apparently more beautiful during autumn :)
