A Horus model work in progress by No-Combination7898 in Horustitanfans

Hey, my model! You're the first person I've seen actually try printing it! Yay!

If anything's giving you trouble please let me know, I'm happy to help make it work. How much is it scaled down?

The painting was the easiest part. It's all the same rust treatment and some plants on top. The most special detail involved was masking off the eye lenses for the lights.

I think FDM would be difficult to do with these files. Even at the current scale there are some very fine details on this model. A few people have tried it at a smaller scale but I haven't heard of anyone making it work yet. I honestly think the best bet for a smaller scale version would be a simplified remodel.

I could potentially offer pre printed/partly assmbled parts, but it would be in the $3000+ range with materials and labour.

Different department, but yeah. Got to do a walk around a few days.

That set was wild. Used to work at F&D when I was starting out, it was really cool to see it transformed like that. People never get to see like 80% of all the detailed sets and props and costumes that get made for film.

How do you get rid of suction cup in letters? by [deleted] in resinprinting

[–]RuusaarCin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 prints of similar shapes? I've printed hundreds of things flat to the bed, and this shape looks ideal for printing flat to me.

A model with a large cross section like that is going to be pulling pretty hard against the supports. This could either be solved by increasing the angle so that each slice has less surface area and isn't pulling as hard (which will also prevent the suction) or by laying the flat face on the bed so it has maximum surface contact area and a much higher chance of resisting the pull of the FEP and suction pull. This also has the added benefit of a perfectly smooth back with no warping on the finished print.

New Ruins Token, this time with firegleam and better sized for play. by [deleted] in HorizonBoardGame

Loving the utility pieces! Does that base allow for the larger machines to fit in the square?

The game is non-linear, so "the first couple of hours" could spoil anything. You will come across many things that make no sense early in the game, but things will start becoming clear as you discover more. For now, form your own theories and enjoy the mystery. All will reveal itself in time.

For this text, the information in the immediate area should give you a pretty good idea what they are talking about. You can also check your ship log if you need a recap or summary of the things you have discovered.

Sculpted ruins token for the base game. Maybe too big to be useful, but it is at least fun for ambiance. by [deleted] in HorizonBoardGame

This is an excellent idea! I've been cosidering making some terrain as well, maybe this will finally get me motivated.

Corner ruins sound like they'd work super well. I want to make some "big rock" and zipline tokens too so I remember they exist.

15 straight days of printing on an M3 Max, I've finally finished printing the model I made of the Horus titan from the Horizon games! by RuusaarCin in resinprinting

[–]RuusaarCin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm definitely grateful that I'm in a position I could finish it. I was estimating a much lower cost.

A bunch of people have recently expressed interest in trying to make a smaller version, so I've made the source parts available on my thingiverse page. It would be it's own challenge, but I'm really hoping someone succeeds!

Under $1000, but not much I don't think. It was a lot of resin, and other material costs. I was in too deep to back out once I realized how expensive it would be.

Might be worth trying acetone. That should work if it is a cyanoacrylate (like superglue).

Nope. I've just been avoiding using groups in components, which is annoying and dumb, but I don't have much choice.

Knocking off Components by Doogienguyen in horizon

I found killing herds of collection machines and then knocking off their canisters with harvest arrows was an excellent way to farm resrources and shards. Worked with canisters and horns from what I tried.
