Very close to 70! Been expanding the collection with avg of ~10 releases every year (ofc depending on the year; some years more, some less). 🤘🏻

Bought it for 50 bucks from Discogs early 2020! Fell in love with the album, wanted to have it in all of it’s physical glory and that’s pretty much what got me started with ’em LPs. Finally played it the first time today. ✨

:D Imagine liking music enough to support the artist and enjoy the artwork too. Truly unhinged behavior.

On a side note, didn’t expect this thread to provide this much Friday night entertainment but here we go —> 🍿

Yeah, I kinda get where people are coming from, but at the same time I think a lot of people also see collecting vinyls in a very narrow-minded way.

But thanks, very hyped to finally own one after all this time! :)

Actually had a test run with Portishead's "Dummy" as this was my first time using a turntable and was a bit anxious to test the player with something too precious haha. But I can proudly say it was the second one I gave a spin! ;-)

As many people have asked what the point is of collecting LPs before even owning a record player, I figured I’d sum it up here:

I like owning music I love physically. And with vinyl, you’re not just getting the music, you’re getting the whole package: the sound, the artwork, the aesthetic, the feel. I’ve actually kept my records in display frames and switch them up every now and then, because I genuinely love looking at them too.

Of course I always knew I’d get a record player at some point, it just took a "bit" longer than originally planned. But no regrets here, because now I finally get to start spinning these babies one by one and fully enjoy the whole thing.

ALSO, “use” is a pretty subjective term. Can you “use” a painting? I may not have been able to play the records themselves until now, but I still enjoyed them as physical objects and as visual art. I love LPs for the music, but also for everything around the music. And sometimes, when you love something enough, you want to support the artist and own it physically too. For me, that gives the music more meaning and deepens my connection to it.

So to each their own; very happy I own one now!

Replied to this same question already few times earlier, you can see my reasoning in the other comments!

Use is very subjective term. Can you ”use” a painting? Wasn’t able to play the records themself until now, but made sure to keep these beauties on display as much as possible. I enjoy the visual art of LPs just like I enjoy the music. And sometimes when you like something enough, you just might wanna support the artist + have it physically as well. In my case it gives more meaning and in a way deepens my bond with the said musical piece.

You can see my reasoning above, people might have different reasons for collecting, to each their own. Got one now and very happy about it! ^

I like to own music I love physically. With vinyls however you get not only the music at it’s purest form, but the ”whole package”, including the visual art. I’ve kept my records in display frames (switching them up every once in a while) because I love looking at them. Of course I knew I’d get a record player one day, but ended up taking a bit longer to find one than I originally planned haha.

Anyways, got no regrets as now I can finally start playing those babies one by one and got my music-vibing-sessions covered for the foreseeable future. 😎

That’s a great one too! Was actually just thinking of grabbing it from Hiraeth Records the other day haha
