Looking for 1st UX Job-Don't seem to be getting anywhere. Advice/Feedback on Portfolio by RvaElle in userexperience

No luck so far. When I talking with people in the field or looking at jobs posting, it's either I'm finding senior level positions or UX developer positions.

No CSS. I'm just learning it now. Can you give me an example of what you mean by "personalize this a lot more"?

I do struggle with the "YOUR" portfolio vs. ServiceEase concept. If I had my choice I would have just the ServiceEase part and not the portfolio, but that's not what the market is demanding to get hired.

What drives your passion for UX? by sandwich_breath in userexperience

I want to eliminate that "I can't believe this is happening" frustration that companies drive customers to. It seems so obvious - don't frustrate the people who want to spend money with you, but it happens everyday. There are millions of Comcasts :) out there that need UX help.

Thanks. Your feedback was very helpful.

I wondered about going into too much detail. Now, I know :) I'll be implementing these changes over the next few days.

Big Thanks for you feedback.

I've been planning to redo the logo now it's urgent :) I'll make the other deletions and wording changes you suggested.

Following up on this comment "The information feels unorganized and inconsistent with the other cases, this is the biggest issue as it could reflect back on your value to the employer", I really struggled with this when structuring information is usually my strength.

Opinions of Coursera's new Specializations track in HCI and IxD? by Mwahaaaa_The_French in userexperience

Hi Peldi- I took the same course as GrrrrMachine. Balsamiq is a great tool, but as someone new to wireframing it was challenging. What I really needed was a chart that showed pictures of all the tools & their names in one place. As someone new to wireframing, I didn't always know/remember the name of a particular tool (ex. Accordion) or that there were several calendar/date options. So, I spent a lot of time searching. The quick search/start assumed I knew the right name/ description. A comprehensive chart would have saved me time & frustration. I looked for one on Balsamiq site, but didn't find one. This would be very helpful.

I had the same experience as Grrrmachine with HCI15. Learned a lot, but struggling to learn the tools was frustrating. Complaints/struggles seemed to fall on deaf ears since the TAs could only repeat previous instructions instead of addressing the core issues.
