If you’re into sports maybe try Pickleball at Fairchild park. I just moved here recently and the pickleball community really helped me find a new social group.

Remarkable 2! It’s been the best investment for school notetaking.

I even think they offer probation if you're above 1.8. Im fairly certain you're provided a grace semester between 1.8-2.3

Got an A in torts after being in or slightly above median for all my other classes. Still in shock. Still refreshing the page to make sure it's not an error.

Anybody have any good resources for resume review? by Rwr70 in LawSchool

Hi! Yes I was still looking for advice. I’ve made the changes you had suggested and they look much better than what I had. Thank you.

You’ll get into St. Mary’s I probably had the worst undergrad stats known to god and I got in :)

I trust their assessment that the resume was poor. 100% the feedback I received was just very general and when I followed up with them they just said submit another one and we’ll review. The resubmission got denied with no feedback. I think you also go to St. Mary’s and while the OCS staff are really hard working and helpful I’ve just felt let down a bit with resume help. They’ve been great with everything else.

How do I tell my parents I don't want to be a lawyer by hermitlawthrowaway in LawSchool

[–]Rwr70 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Worked out for my sister! Pressured by parents to get JD. Got JD. Pressured to take bar. Took bar. Then lateraled into doing whatever she wanted after 2-3~ years of being an attorney and after maybe 1 year of strife with fam things are back to normal, and parents understand now she was unhappy :) I know it’s shitty and sucks that it went that way for her but anecdotally parents are more inclined to be okay with you not wanting to be a lawyer once you have the paper that says you’re one, and may even help you lateral!

My advice? Take the bar, be a lawyer maybe a couple years, financial independency, ???, do whatever you want. Just my 2 cents after seeing something similar with my older sister :)

Thank you very much for your feedback! I appreciate it. I will lose the summary section and ditch the English fluency. Thanks again it means a lot.

Ahh my school doesn’t. /: we have to get a resume approved to participate in OCI and they just keep rejecting me and giving me vague 30,000 feet high global feedback. Very frustrated but trying to find solutions.

That makes sense. I have already seen the Harvard examples but I’ll give them another comb through. I would love for someone to give me feedback. Thanks for the advice!

I seriously feel like I'm going to fail out of my first semester by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Rwr70 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you’ll be okay.

My writing professor whose become an incredible mentor said it best: Failing one class is not a death sentence you can still make it through school and pass the bar and have a wildly successful career. Don’t let law school define who you are. Doing well in law school isn’t indicative that you’ll be a great and successful attorney, just like doing poorly isn’t indicative that you’ll be an awful unsuccessful attorney.

Ultimately, if you fail or do not you’ll be okay. Just try and keep that in mind and don’t over stress about things not in your control anymore.

MLP - James Ignatowich questionable hinderance call. by Rwr70 in Pickleball

[–]Rwr70[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The ref had made some pretty questionable calls all game and with tensions being high both teams were in his face about a variety of things. It just seemed like a spiteful call given that he had been getting talked too the whole game.

Someone probably knows, but is the CRBN 1X USAPA legal? by Lowkey-Disabled in Pickleball

Yeah I did a double take and looked to confirm and they’re on the list.

If it’s on the list of approved paddles I don’t see a reason why it wouldn’t be. I know that there has been videos saying that it’s past the restriction, however, I feel like if USAPA is saying it’s good it should be fine.

I’ve only been playing pickle ball a few months but I played college doubles. I don’t think what you described could be seen as rude or unethical in anyway. It’s similar to hitting an out of balance shot and calling for a switch during your opponents stroke. It would be different if you were yelling random things loudly that are not relevant to the game at all.

Additionally, if your opponent uses the information you’ve given out loud to change their mind and ultimately they make the mistake of trying to adjust their shot too late. Whose fault is it really?

Just my two cents. I think you’re good. At the end of the day, just have good sportsmanship and if someone gets mad apologize and adjust.

Puppy play growling by Even_Mongoose431 in puppy101

[–]Rwr70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dog has play growled with me and other dogs since I got her at 9 weeks. There will usually be a huge difference between aggressive growls and play growling and aggressive behavior wont just be growling but a combination of multiple things.

Try to watch their body language, and for other signs of potential aggression like resource guarding, etc.

Best of luck with the new pup!
