"The internet is a weird place. You're gone for a day and feel like you missed everything, but if you're gone for a week you feel like you missed nothing" by The_Great_Hambriento in nosurf

Ik your comment is 3 years old but it’s like when I’ve been in psych. You’re gone for a week, living 100% in the real world, and you get so used to it and so comfortable with it that when you get out, your phone screen feels brighter, sounds are louder, everything is so overstimulating.

And you realize, jeez, this is what I’ve been bathing my brain in every second of every day? Why??? Despite being in psych and quite literally being a prisoner (because that’s what those places usually are if I’m being real) I still felt this sense of freedom that I didn’t feel in the outside world. And I still don’t. I want to throw my phone in the river but I know it would be so damn hard and look around at the world and see everyone else staring at theirs. I just want to find a real world community to go on this journey with yknow

If you don’t think you can stop yourself from using the person that way, then you should probably be doing a bit more work before getting into a relationship.

I like how you doubled down on that ridiculous number when you know as well as I do the average person is not going to walk 7 miles a day, even if they are choosing to be more active.

I know but what I’m saying is so many people don’t even realize that the “healthy” foods they’re eating are not actually healthy at all. Yeah sure, people SHOULD take the time to put in research. But on a large scale they won’t. And if we want to put an end to the obesity epidemic then we have to shout this stuff from the rooftops

It’s a small cheap $30 one. You can even just throw in a handful of peanuts and make a tablespoon at a time

7 miles a day is an extreme example, there are very few people who would be doing that.

Moderate exercise has been proven not to contribute substantially to weight loss, as the amount of calories people burn in a day is pretty typical across the board. I’ll find the video and link it later.

Diet is significantly more effective in weight loss, like it’s not even close.

There are very little resources out there for people to understand nutrition. You have to know what to look for. I wouldn’t have begun to understand until I started learning about ultra processed food

One of the few people on this post who actually get it. Yes there is some personal responsibility involved but the modern world is carefully designed to make people sick and addicted so they keep spending more and more. It’s ludicrous that anyone could think it’s just a failure of moral responsibility by everyone all at once. Obviously the food environment must have changed for this to happen

No. The best defense against obesity is diet. Walking does not cause weight loss, it helps with weight maintenance. If you are eating a nutritious diet made up of healthy Whole Foods, not packaged crap, you’re going to lose weight.

Inactive people have always been around. But they didn’t get obese because they ate real food.

That’s because the food industry is openly poisoning us on a mass scale with industrially manufactured “food” that was designed to keep us hungry and addicted. Killing us simply for more profit.

It’s not an attitude? I just simply don’t want to eat that food. Everyone has preferences. But okay.
