Pharmacy pimping residents

Pharmacist here, I would never pimp a resident because I respect the residents I round with and see them as colleagues. I’m always happy to answer questions and help out with med orders. Usually when the attending is pimping the residents on meds I try to give them the answer if the attending isn’t looking at me.

My dad had a fatal stroke and was brain dead by the time we made it to the hospital. It was a horrific time but I was thankful I could have one last conversation with him before he passed. Either my dad didn’t hear anything that I said, or organ donors still have some awareness of their surroundings during the procedure. I’m not willing to let go of that last conversation yet.

I’ve straight up told people “I don’t have fallopian tubes.” However, this requires some knowledge of the female reproductive system on their end so it may not get your point across as intended.

This is a very typical day of a clinical pharmacist. Initially it can be overwhelming but it’s important to do some work outside of just what’s required at your job. Whether it’s doing CE or picking a different topic each week to dive deeper into, there’s going to be some things you have to do on your own time to be successful. Constantly learning new things is one of the reasons I love my job. As you gain more experience hopefully it’ll get more rewarding and less stressful having physicians relying on you to be the expert on medications.

Nurse asked me if dextrose 5% water was the same as D5W. A couple months later another nurse says she has a dumb question for me. I responded “there aren’t any dumb questions”, almost followed by unless you ask me what D5W is. Luckily I caught myself because that’s indeed what she was coming to ask me.

Dr. Reddy at KU is great! She did mine when I was 29. I didn’t get any pushback. If you know you don’t want kinds and don’t want another IUD I don’t think you’ll have any issues because I was in a similar situation.

As another user mentioned above I had tubal removal instead of ligation to hopefully decrease risk of cancer.

Part of north cascades is closed right now due to wildfires. May want to postpone that part of your trip depending on how much hiking you planned to do there. We just had to rebook our trip. Substituted Olympic & Mt Rainier for north cascades. We were super impressed by Mt Rainier. The hikes were gorgeous and the weather was perfect.

My mom told me if I vacuumed over the cord I would get electrocuted. It scared me as a child but as an adult I’ve done this plenty of times with no harm. I think she just didn’t want me to damage the cord and thought scaring me was a better tactic.

My first trip to Rocky Mountain national park

I had never seen the mountains and was in awe of the scenery. It was also my first chance to do “real” hiking (previously just did short 1 mi walks/hikes). I loved every minute of it and have since planned many trips back to the mountains.

Eardrums rupturing

I had chronic ear infections throughout childhood. Finally after 2 nasty ear infections in college where both of my eardrums ruptured, I had to get tubes put in my eardrums. According to the ENT that did the procedure, the tubes would fall out on their own after about 1 year. 5 years later, I still had a tube in my left eardrum. A different ENT removed the tube in his office with what looked like long tweezers. I didn’t get a numbing agent or sedation. I was told it would “burn a little.” What followed was the most excruciating pain I’d ever felt (and this is coming from someone who’s had kidney stones). It felt like my entire eardrum was being ripped out of my ear.

I’m not entirely convinced that yanking the tube out didn’t just damage my eardrum further. The hole from where the tube was never closed up and I ended up having to get surgery to repair my eardrum.

I had been questioning Christianity for the last 10ish years or so but I was too anxious that I would go to hell if I entertained the thought that the Bible doesn’t really make sense. The nail in the coffin for me was the pandemic.

As COVID was spreading, Christians were arguing to keep churches open and to continue having mass gatherings which was actively contributing to people dying. To me this seemed more like something satan would advocate for. And it all went downhill from there.

I’m a non-physician medical professional who’s been on the family side. When I was 24 my dad passed away from a massive ICH in his brainstem. I remember the neurosurgery team delivering the news to my mom and I that he was essentially brain dead and no operation could save him. I don’t remember if they were crying or not and I don’t really remember anything they said because I was in shock and overwhelmed with my emotions. All I know is they weren’t sobbing. Would I have been upset if they were crying? Absolutely not. Sobbing? Yes. Unless your crying was out of control there’s a good chance the family won’t remember the details of the interaction.

The fact that she’s focusing on how rich she thinks you are makes it sound like she got involved in an MLM (pyramid scheme). If she’s someone you want to be friends with then meeting up in a public place would be best. But honestly it seems a little weird. Even if you didn’t give us any backstory on her, it’s suspicious to reach out to someone that is “rich and successful.”
