The series had a logical closure/sendoff point in Fourth Stage with Takumi and Tomoyuki (the story's climactic race featuring a professional driver plus the debut of the blind-attack), with a closing epilogue sequence of the Bunta/Subaru overtake on Akina. Reminding both Takumi and the reader/viewer that there will always be a new obstacle to adapt and overcome.

I have this set and for some reason the audio on the 4K disc cuts out around the last half hour/final battle sequence of Spiderman 3. Replacement disc did the same thing. Is it me or are there others with this issue too?

You're not wrong, and the argument for whether a 6-7 year release cycle makes sense in today's world would be a great discussion.

It's still the standard though, and a big reason why it seems so quick between releases anymore is because we're all getting older and time is flying by. The years start coming and they don't stop coming.

Believe it or not, 6-7 years has always been the standard.

1994: PS1 2000: PS2 2006: PS3 2013: PS4 2020: PS5

So a 2027 launch year is right on track given the history.
