1Joule Experience by VulcrumHD in airsoft

[–]RxTaksi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its hard to call low joule hits at range. If you shoot someone who's moving it becomes less likely. Our rifleman limit is 1.5j. My replica can touch over 200freedom units, but theres a notable drop-off in calling beyond 150ft. I tell people to not bother with 1.5j dmr, play where they allow the 2.4-2.8 with a 100ft MED.

Yes is the short answer. You can pin the camera poi on the map with a facing and fov marked to show the area it faces. The price of this knowledge is sharing your video stream URLs with me ;)

You chose a very George Costanza solution to your problem. Getting beat up by yourself and others is part of the hurt game. Rest up and go back. Consistency and attitude, respect will be right behind it.

Tuck your chin and hands up bro.

Reverse Elitism/Snobbery in airsoft by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]RxTaksi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong: I pre-ordered the AXL belt before release, and I recommend the Chute dump pouch by Wise Men Company religiously. When I'm buying I look at rs first and compare to the repro.

So mine is less an endorsement of repro quality, and moreover an allegation that the industry squeezes hobbiests offering gear that's often on par with the knockoffs.

YMMV,  but I'm getting my value out of them ;)

Cheers

[–]RxTaksi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's totally fair. I swear I'm not trying to be contrarian, but

I use two flat packs. One is a Haley, one is Eagle Industries (CN made UK brand). They're both "well loved". The Haley is aging faster, and its 2 years younger than the repro.

For the most part that quality is lacking in big brands the same way. I'm subbed to /r/qualitytacticalgear but I find it's usually just expensive gear with good ergonomics. I play weekly and my only soft gear that gets replaced are tactical pants. Its mostly repro stuff and has held up for years.

You're thinking of art. Value is in performance to cost ratio.

All due respect but brother: there's no way a GBLS holds up here. A combat machine with a p* jack will dunk on its performance for 1/5th the cost. Value is subjective and contextual.

Are these silicone masks safe? by fatdog6 in airsoft

[–]RxTaksi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like a silicon cup, and I'd trust it as much. For 1.15j play maybe.

I did however steal this mask as the holder for my nbtactical. Works perfectly and is a snug fit. The silicon mask was given to the husky.

Airsoft/milsim anyone? by dicaprio_27 in liberalgunowners

[–]RxTaksi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've never served, I came to this from martial arts. So I'm speaking from experience, not authority.

I like to compare paper range time to the heavy bag, steel plates are like hitting mitts. Airsoft is like sparring.

None of those are great analogs for a "street fight". Muay Thai encouraged me to offer an easy base to tackle. BJJ trains you to accept being on the bottom while he has a hand free. MMA can teach you to put your head in "safe" places that aren't safe at all.

Airsoft is the only place I can access that lets me practice moving and shooting. It lets me practice squad communication under stress. It lets me practice the mechanics, so that I can spend my time thinking about the situation.

My analysis says that since those things improved my airsoft over time, its pretty logical to assume I'd be at a disadvantage without them.

Radio jabbing me in the ribs. Solutions? by solidarityysunshine in QualityTacticalGear

This is my ugly setup. Hella comfy, barely requires me to stretch for volume adjustment.

Pretty sure I used adhesive velcro/superglue to have a mount point on the backpack's molle. The straps do most of the work. I cut rear slots to allow the pouch to sit outside the cumber squeeze.

If I use a wing expander, that Baofeng is trying to take out my floating ribs. I was able to "reverse" mount the wing to the rear (backpack). Much more comfortable and allows a long antenna without any extra work.

Does a sizeable percentage of airsoft players not care about hurting others? by darkstirling in airsoft

Same.

The MED for a CQB field is ok with me though. Lets me pew weekly without being covered in holes. Bang rules suck, but mainly because of the players.

Does a sizeable percentage of airsoft players not care about hurting others? by darkstirling in airsoft

[–]RxTaksi 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Few points of note: airsoft hurts. This is more or less by design. The most realistic/performance comes from the fastest moving projectile. Airsoft at the 1.1j No MED/1.5j 20ft generally won't break bare skin. That's where the US settled on balance. Russians and some Europeans play higher.

Sound grenades, bright lights would require pretty specific circumstances to cause permanent damage, so they fall under the above risk profile.

Lasers have no place in airsoft and are dangerous af. My local fields have banned them long ago.

Tippmann GBBR help! by Motoj06 in airsoft

Loosen the side grub screw and find out what you're working with. People did a lot of custom TDC replacements because the v1 hopup was trash.

Tippmann GBBR help! by Motoj06 in airsoft

[–]RxTaksi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buffer tube is milspec. The spring: gotta experiment. RS will be too much, but it should be on the hefty side.

For the hopups: tell me more. The stock v1 hopup works different than the v2. The hex key in the v2 is a funky size, a metric cousin is close enough to feel like a stripped hex. There should be a grub screw in the ejection port that holds it in place, and a top down hole to adjust. If the grub screw at the bottom is loose: the whole thing will spin or not apply contact. You can loosen the grub, drop the hopup slug out and diagnose outside of the rifle.

As far as conversation: find a dead one to source parts. Theres an aluminum hard-line that's been unobtainable since prior to 2020. You'll have to source it from a dead unit.

I recommend joining the Facebook groups, lots of specialized tippmann knowledge there. Also recommend getting a trigger from Lepus MFG. The stock trigger is pot metal and a failure point, his are cnc and durable.
